Your topic name is contradictory. Mythological means unreal, fake, don't exist etc. So you asked are they real, which is a sort of rhetorical question because they aren't real, or at least they are described as not being real. I think I used the word "real" too many times there.

Sigh what's the point in all of you talking about Medusa and other characters from mythological texts and tales when you don't even know the stories just the names? It's all very well saying "Oh I believe this" or "I think that's utter tat" etc but do you even know what you are believing in?

For example I doubt any of you knew that Medusa was one of three gorgon sisters (Stheno, Euryale and Medusa). Medusa had her hair turned into snakes by a jealous Greek god (Athena) how envied her beauty. After that anyone who looked upon her turned to stone. A Greek hero named Persues however went on a quest to find a way to kill a sea titan and after contacting the three blind witches he discovered that the only way to kill that titan would be to cut off the head of Medusa and show it to the monster, turning it into stone. It is said that Medusa was the weakest of the three sisters (as she was mortal and the others weren't) and the only one who could be killed and that's why Persues went to vanquish her.

How many of you knew that about Medusa? Very few I'd bet.
