Just out of interest, how are web sites able to have their own custom icon placed within your Internet Explorer Favourites listings??

You shouldn't save it in bitmap format however.

rel="icon" has always worked for me, and imdb for that matter.

Also, I expect you do this already, but make sure you've got an .ico ext, and not an .ico.bmp or something like that.

When you save the image, surround the name with quotes in the 'File Name' box, as this will force the file to be of the ext you've given, rather than MSPaint/PSP/PSD/PS whatever, giving it their own ext in teh background.

My code below worked.

Well, the icon didn't appear properly, but it was different to the other ones!

Maybe if I try a full link to the image it may change?

Thanks for that.

It appears that "shortcut icon" is needed, rather than just "icon" as the rel value, as "icon" didn't work.

Thanks again.

OK then. I read a crappy tutorial.

But this one seems to state the same too...

Your rel parameter is junk.

Favicons are a client-side element, they are independant of hosts.

I know this one!

Create an icon, I think it's gotta be 16x16 in size, name it favicon.ico

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/phillip.hudson23/favicon.ico

That's just an example.

Once that's uploaded to your main directory. Place this code in the head of the page.

When the page is added to the favourites, it will download that icon.

Yay!

Although, I haven't managed to get it to work yet. I've only tried it with NTL, Freeola it wil probably work with...
