That's what I was thinking about downloading.

To me, downloading has just helped me cut through the crap and check out new bands. No way would I have bought any of their albums this quickly just to find out.

Instead I heard some of their other tracks to see what they're like, then I went to buy their album(s).

So if anything, in my case, downloading has increased the amount of money that has been put into the economy.

The problem lies within singles. The singles market is dead, because they were a rip off money-wise. So downloads served me and many others the opertunity to get these downloads, which I never would have bought anyway.

Therefore I don't understand why the music people b*tch on about it. The only actually abusers are stupid chart followers that download 20 billion latest hits, then delete them straight away, when they could have just as easily been bought. Then they don't buy the album.
