Write the song, and artist, you are listening to at this very moment in time.

Go on.

The only point in doing a straight cover is as a tribute to another artist. I have to admit to liking covers that are slightly heavier than the originals, like HIm - wicked game for example. Not like that atrocious Marylin Manson cover of Tainted Love though.

i agree that If you are going to cover a song its good to try and put your own style on it. Sometimes the cover versions even come out better than the originals.

I think Alien Ant Farm are pathetic.

Our first single shall be MOVIES! Damn, that crashed.

OK, our second single will be SMOOTH CRIMINAL! Hurray, we rule!

Right, our third single will be MOVIES! Um...hang on..

Tut tut. They're both pretty crap anyway.

Oh yes! I remember Fudge Tunnel. I used to listen to them years ago. I had Hate Songs In E Minor, fantastic.....

Did you ever get the Nailbomb album, Point Blank? It was the lead singer of Fudge Tunnel (Alex Newport) and the lead singer of Sepultura (Max Cavalera). One of the songs on it, "Sick Life", was absolutely brilliant.

"A dark room is my world,
Life no longer turns me on,
Forget my friends,
That already forgot me......"

They did release "Movies" first.
Waaay back in August last year but Xfm were the only station to play it and I had to order the CD on import from The States.
And then Smooth Criminal blew it up.

It's a good original song but I dont see the point in covering in that straight.
If you are going to cover a song, try and put your own spin on it.

Check out "I will survive" by Cake and "Sunshine of your Love" by Fudge Tunnel.
Awesome covers.
