I got the strangest e-mail EVER today. I was set out exactly like a letter from a lawyer’s office (I know what they look like as my Mum's friend wrote one for me and she's a lawyer lol Don't ask why). Anyway it went on about a few people who died in a car crash and that one of them is supposedly related to me even though it gives his supposed name which is nothing like mine. It then says that I should reply and they'll give me my $20,000,000 inheritance. HAH yeah I'll just reply to it looking for the money and when they ask for my personal details to make the transfer I'll just tell them lol. It wasn't even sent from a professional law firms e-mail address, it was from some random guy on a hotmail account. Has anyone else got an e-mail like that?

That's the way it is with them all. The first one I read I believed, until a few hours later when I asked myself why me? Then it became quite clear. And even if you do reply asking: why me? Which I foolishly did because I wasn't 'webwise' at the time you get a whol load of other ones exactly the same but with a different person/situation, kinda makes it look a 'bit' fake, they ruin their own chances, the fools.

It was very well done, and a bunch of more obscure details did check out.
But it asked for bank details to transfer money to, so I left it.
Plus I asked myself 'why me?' and found no good answer.

Would have been sweet if it had been for real though.

Was it obviously not real? You could have turned him in if it was real, or accepted his money.

There are a lot of fake ebay/QXL emails around at the moment which try to con you into sending someone your password, delete them all, or fill them in falsely as I did...

Example

Ebay Username F**k *ff
Password deathtoallwhospam

Had one once pretending to be the son of the overthrown leader of some country (I forget the details), who was wanted by various people, looking for someone to help get him out of the country in return for a bunch of money.

It was very well put together, and seemed like it'd have been a lot of crazy (if gangsterishly scary) fun if it had been real.

You do realise that if split 40/50 10% gets given away to no one and just disappears into nothingness.

thousands, here is my favourite:

Dear Mr. ****

You don't know me but I have a very important proposal to make, I am the manager of the Nigerian international bank, and it came to my attention last night that one of our finest customers has passed away, leaving no next of kin. If you pretend to be his next of kin, then I will split the money with you 40/50 in your favour. Please reply with your bank details and credit card number and PIN.

Proffesor Adamu

That's no joke, I get LOADS of E-mails like that. Don't reply or they'll send a load more. Anyway, i'm an English teenager, I don't have any money, so leave me alone...
