That's right! The now out-of-contract French "winger" David Bellion is expected to arrive at Old Trafford today for a routine medical test, before finally completing his long-awaited move to the `Theatre of Dreams´, and on to 'bigger things'.

6-months-ago, it looked like he was all set to sign, when the transfer window reopened, back in January...
But, for some reason, it didn't. And after what came from the player's mouth himself, it seemed like the young man dubbed "The Next Thierry Henry" would, rediclulously, be prepared to 'snub' any approach from Sir Alex Ferguson, and instead return to his native homeland, once his contract at the Stadium of Light expires.

But here he is... Almost signed-up and ready to be United's first Summer-signing (and hopefully, the first of several!).

Fergie may have "stupidly" (according to 'EVERY' Arsénal fan) passed on the chance to sign Confederations Cup 2003-winner Henry back when he was just a "promising" but in-experienced teenager, in his early-days at Monaco... But with the potential young Bellion has, we could be the ones laughing in several years time, when his true potential begins to show.

....Kind of like we are already, as the `Champions´, yet again!

Who needs David Beckham, eh?
With the way United's Summer-spending appears to be going, life-after-Beckham could really be the greatest thing since Eric Cantona!

I look forward to seeing how Bellion develops... :)

It is hard to perform in a bad team: This was also proven by Hartson at Coventry City. And Bellion has a lot of pace: Hope he'll show his talents well at United.

Its hard to perform at a underperforming team such as Sunderland where he only actually made 5 premiership starts in two seasons.

Eg, Flo scored bagfuls of goals at Chelsea but only scored a couple for Sunderland.

Check out his pace on the vid here.

So by that logic, football scouts should be hanging around the 400m sprint events, rather than school football tourneys, to find the stars of the future?

And if you can run, and you are skilful, you are gifted.

Eh... Have you not seen the Babangidas or Rommedahl? That's what they are like! They have no skills, but can run damn fast, and so do ok.

I'm expecting nothing from him personally.

If he were any good at all, he'd have made a name for himself by scoring a few goals at sunderland.

Pace is a fantastic asset. Sure it doesnt make you a great player, but it gives you an excellent framework to start with. Just look at Henry.

Thats all i'm saying. I've hardly seen Bellion play at all, so CM4 is all i have to judge him on.

The out of 20 system may not tell it how it is, but its the closest damn thing there is out there.

Hello?

*waves hand*

Helloooooooo?

Maybe I'm being a little too cynical here, but a game that rates a number of attributes out of 20 can hardly claim to "tell it like it is". Especially if you consider that Bellion wasn't good enough to claim a regular team place in a club which in turn wasn't good enough to claim a place in the premiership.

If all a player had to do was run, teams all over the world would be hauling runners off the world athletics circuit to bang in goals at the highest level for half or less of the wage of the most prolific strikers in the premiership.

Yes, a game based on real life.

There are only a handful of players on the game out of thousands and thousands that have pace 20 and acceleration 20.

I think somebody has been playing too much Championship Manager.

You do know it's a game... right?
