First day at the glue factory today.
The temping agency had given me the part-time position, starting at 8.30.
I get there, they talk about how they want someone permanant, starting 8, and contradict the whole briefing from the agency.
Ah well, 8 am is a non-starter (transport), and there's no way in hell I'll be there for more than two or three months.

Didn't get near my job as machine operator on the production line either.
They did, however, let me spend the day unpacking some kind of adhesive from boxes of 12, repack in boxes of 6, and stack on pallets.
The place is too noisy to talk much, and nobody else had much to say anyway, so it was a fun day of work I could do with my eyes closed, in more or less solitude.
Lame.

The highlight of my day was when someone called over the tannoy for 'James Pond' to come to reception.
Which probably shows how exciting the day was.

Oh, and it was quite good when the woman gave me my swipe card, "...and come and give it back to me if you leave"
'If'?
Had a sudden cheap horror movie vibe then, which was nice.
Now that I think of it the (paper cut) scars on my hands and wrists sort of add to the factory killing people b-movie style thing too.
Not sure if it's a mad scientist or bunch of aliens behind it though...

I was quite surprised by the other workers there. I figured (correctly, I think) the work would be pretty lame, and was expecting relatively downtrodden people. Instead it looked like where all the popular kids from high school go to die.
Kind of glad I was a bit of a mis-fit now :^D
Hang on, I'm there too...

Ah well, hopefully it won't be for long.

If any of you buy a pack of 6 prit sticks on special half-price promotion in the next few weeks there's a slim chance they were packed by me :^)

We all hope. Watch out for the smell of glue. It usually indicates glue is in the area. Don't breathe it in, horrible headaches and hospitalisation is usually the consequence.

Today was the lamest day yet, packing prit-sticks into boxes ALL DAY.

There are people there wou've been in the job for years, my first day on that floor and I was going out of my mind.
It may have been radgie heaven (or hell) down there, but I have to admire their staying power.

Also, applied for a job teaching English in Japan this evening.
I felt good about the quality of the application, except that I didn't have any previous teaching experience or significant travelling bragging rights.
Plus they probably have an influx of applications from ex uni students at this time of year.

Still, we can hope (to escape the glue factory). They say they'll get back to me within the next two weeks if I've been successful.
We can hope.

No, but they do have a pool of sharks in the testing labs.
With lazer beams attached to their heads.

Spent about 4 hours putting little plastic loop things on nozzles for tubes of adhesive today.
Completely lame and surprisingly pointless.

*Wonders how long I can stick it out (pun not intended)*
