As we head into the second half of the season, Alonso has a good 7 point lead heading into the French Grand Prix. The French Grand Prix has probably the smoothest race track in the world and this offers a different challenge to the drivers.

Last year, Alex Yoong showed his qualifying ability with pole position followed very closely by Michael Schumacher. The Ferraris seemed to go very well round here and will be hoping to improve on what has been a shocking season so far.

Out of the current championship contenders, Villeneuve has the better record after taking 3rd last year. Trulli didn't go that well round here last year with 15th and Button could only go 1 place better with 14th. De La Rosa went well last year in 5th and the McLaren's managed 10th and 13th, Raikkonen being 10th and Coulthard 13th.

The race was hugely entertaining and the result wasn't clear until the leader crossed the line. The race was initially dominated by Yoong and Michael Schumacher with De La Rosa a few seconds back. Michael Schumacher made a critical error around the first pit stop and spun, falling to last place. Yoong was comfortably in front of De La Rosa when he spun on the last lap and fell to 5th, giving De La Rosa the victory.

De La Rosa's win and Villeneuve's second place will give them high hopes of a repeat performance this year. Button worked his way up to 7th which would be 2 points under this season's points structure. Raikkonen and Coulthard managed 9th and 10th respectively. Trulli tends to go very quiet when he qualifies low and only improved a few places to 12th.

A few other drivers with championship ambitions this year didn't go very well round here last year. Fisichella qualified 16th and finished 13th and Ralf Schumacher qualified 17th and retired when he had to avoid Irvine's stricken car after a spin and crashed.

This race has all the potential to throw up a few surprises and it certainly won't be over until they cross that finish line!

Last years top 3:

1st De La Rosa
2nd Villeneuve
3rd Barrichello

Lap Records:

Qualifying: Yoong 1m12.976s
Race: Coulthard 1m13.954s

Yeah, but the car is pretty bad and Verstappen was never the best of drivers anyway. I would say Wilson is driving well instead of Verstappen driving badly.

And easily Jos Verstappen, who's in a bad car, being outclassed by a rookie.

The only driver available at the moment is Irvine. He didn't get a drive in real life.

There aren't any 'bad' drivers in real life. I would say Pizzonia is having a bad season and is getting shown up by Webber. Villeneuve is having a bad season as well.

Who is the worst driver in real life? Can I have him? He must do better than Schumacher...

Not everyone wins although technically anyone can. Michael Schumacher has done surprisingly bad in the 1 and a half seasons so far.

Looking at the ststistics I made, Button has only had one podium this year. That's one more than in real life. :)

Fisichella has had a couple of pole positions but no race wins. The beauty of the current points system is that the most CONSISTENT driver will win the title. It won't be the driver that wins 3 in a row and then picks up the odd point here and there.

Go Verstappen! You won the last race so that proved you could win again... :D

And I haven't won any races with Button. How many podiums is it now?
