REM: I cannot reply due to problems.

I got my news of Square planning FF games for Nintendo's systems off an OFFICIAL source one of which is this months NOM!

You may be thinking of the OLD OLD OLD news where Square found the N64 too difficult to program for and decided to stay clear for the moment.

Don't confuse facts!

No... they could just admit that NOM is a "crap mag". Rumours get put in mags all the time... and I haven't seen one picture in NOM that they didn't get off the web or from a bunch of advertising pictures...

I know for a fact that Square are planning games for the new consoles and are really excited to make them cos Nintendo Official Mag printed it!

If they are wrong then Square could sue Nintendo!

Pasted from a news website dated 29th January 2001:

Nintendo president Yamauchi has told Bloomberg Japan the following concerning the deal with Square: "There is no contract with Square, and that matter is not open to further discussion...[Square] can say whatever they want, but we have no intention of signing a contract, and there's little chance of one being signed in the future."

Wow, after the five years of hostility, Yamauchi still doesn't want to have peace! Does this guy take diplomatic secrets from the Middle East?

In the interview, he also went on to bad-mouth Bill Gates, saying that the Xbox will regret ever entering the videogame market.

"Nintendo of America announced that the new worldwide name for the Ultra 64 console would be Nintendo 64 in order to build global brand awareness for the product. Konami also held the trademark to "Ultra" and could not be persuaded to surrender the name.

The new machine was revealed to have an innovative controller with two different types of input - one was a traditional four-way D-pad, the other a small analog joystick. The controller had a total of ten buttons, as well as a port on the back for memory cards and other expansion modules.

There was only one problem, and a major one: Publishers and developers liked CDs, and the N64 was cartridge only.

The first benefits of producing CDs were becoming apparent. Sony and Sega churned out games with great speed, and unsold CDs cost only a fraction of what unsold cartridges cost. Nintendo could hardly find developers willing to back its new machine. The final insult came when Square, maker of the Final Fantasy series, announced that it would no longer make Nintendo games and would instead develop the newest Final Fantasy game for the PlayStation. Square would finish work on the games it had started, including a collaborative effort with Nintendo called Super Mario RPG for the SNES. By the end of the year, Dragon Quest maker Enix had made the same announcement. Nintendo was left mostly on its own to develop launch titles for the system.

And how can you be so certain??

I don't know, but both Rav and Edgy seem to think they know.

I've got a huge number of sources in the gaming world. There is no point in saying each one each time cos it's advertising on the Special Reserve network.

Secondly the stuff I said Square said was what I read off www.nintendo.com ages ago!
