I am getting bored of seeing these single console topics all over the SR board but I do have something to say! Here are the pro's and con's:
Pro:
So many developers
So many games
More choice of games
Cons:
Expensive games cos the companies can charge what they like without competition
Expensive helplines due to no competition
Petty standards due to no competition
Basically the same games repeated due to lack of competition
Without the competition things would be seriously bad!

Well, Cuba has a far better health service than here even though doctors don't get paid very much! They work because they love their country.
And capitolist communism... i think you mean democratic communism... was a HUGE success, but fell when the USSR invaded. It would have continued working indefinately.
Finally, remember that Brave New World and 1984 were written in countries where people were communist-phobic because of what they had heard about it. Is brave new world so bad anway? Everyone likes their job and is always happy. They get s.£.x whenever they want, casually for fun. Everyone is just as goodlooking as their piers. There is one huge downfall in all of this... as I'm sure someone will say.

Also, if there was one console we'd never have all those lovely arguments that we have late night on the FOG, would we Dringo and Ortega?
The other problem is in getting it off the ground. Who would pay for the hard ware development costs and manufacturing costs? Would it be a consortium of Nintendo Sega Microsoft and Sony? If it was how do you figure out how to split the revenue? I do not see it happening.
