It's a bit sad in our house today. My cousin died this morning.

We weren't close - although we live(d) on the same estate just a few hundred yards apart, we hadn't seen each other for a few years, until last week. Even then I only saw her long enough to say "hello" and "goodbye".

She'd had her share of problems. Was a mum at a young age, two of her four kids have had kids of their own, even though none of them are yet 16. She had drug problems - and I mean hard drugs such as Crack, not just the odd spliff.

She was quite stunning looking, until the last few years when the drugs started to take their toll. She lost a lot of weight, and was very pale skinned - nothing like I'd remembered her, but exactly as other family members had described her recently.

Needless to say, most people who knew her thought that one day she would kill herself with an overdose, and that was the first thing that went through our minds when we heard the news this morning. But that wasn't what had happened at all.

Last night she went out with some friends. They were driving home this morning somewhere around 8am, when - apparently - the driver fell asleep at the wheel, while on a main road through town, about 3 miles from home.

The car crashed into the wall of a pub which I've been to many times. Everyone else is apparently okay, but she died at the scene. At 32, she was just a few months older than me.

So as I said, it never ends the way you think it will.

It would be hypocritical to say that I'm in floods of tears, because I'm not. As I said, I hardly ever saw her, and never really knew her. But it's saddening, all the same. Someone survives all that, and then goes out like this. Makes you wonder.

You never think, when you see or speak to someone, that it could be the last time you ever see them. To me it seems odd that I saw her last week for the first time in years, and now she's gone for good. I won't go into details here, but there were some unusual circumstances which led to us seeing each other on that particular day. It just seems so spooky.

I'm not a religious person at all, but maybe it was just fate? Too much happened for it to be just pure chance - I'm sure of that.

Still, that's my little sad story for the day.

Rest in peace, Jo.

also I don't know what happened about the racist remark, so that had nothing to with it.

i didn't read that bit about sep 11 before I wrote that post.

Col that was really harsh, if you were in Africa starving, you would probably be calling out to the people who were thinking exactly the same as you were then, can you imagine being left to die in a slow horrible way while others said, doesn't affect me so sod it, when they could easily help you?

I only moan at people when they act like complete t******s.

When someone has a problem, you help them. You don't go and tell them that it shouldn't bother them as if ~they're~ doing something wrong.

He said it as if Wookie was just being stupid because one of his relations died. In fac, if anyone is saddened because of someone dying, you've just got to say 'OK' and go to sleep. You can only be sad when your dog gets put down.

And Col is just a grade A gimp. You know the stories you were told as a child to stop you climbing trees? The one about the little boy that fell out of a tree and smashed his head?

Well, yes. He's that little boy.

I had a friend fall out of a tree and die. Tragic.

And WM, deepest sympathy. Not very good with words, so I'll leave it at that. But like Borat said, hope you and your family find the strength to get through it..

Don't worry, sometimes I can be insensitive and a jerk, but other times I post alright stuff. It dosn't bother me if Phillip the mongoose thinks im a gimp, it dosn't bother me at all.

He said something about me as well, I don't really care about that either.
I'm not worried about what you said, but other people might get annoyed

One day Col, you're gonna say something that's gonna get you into sooo many problems.

Maybe you'll get fired from your job. Maybe you'll get beaten up.

But if you keep saying things like you do without thinking, you're gonna get into a massive problem one day.

And as you can see I'm deeply offended about you calling me a mongoose. I'm going to cry myself to sleep now.

Have fun.

there there phi11ip,
being a mongoose isn't all that bad, well maybe it is, but thats not the point. You should have a fight with crazy col to settle this once and for all, or you could just go to bed crying...
