"AVI to MPEG-1 Conversion"

I have used all sorts of media converters and specifically I need those which convert AVI to MPEG-1 or VCD. However, every one that I have used converts the files fine but then when you play the file back in the converted format (in this case MPEG-1/VCD), the sound is delayed.

For instance a persons mouth moves on the video and then about two seconds later, the sound is heard.

Any suggestions? Can this be prevented in any way? Is there a program which doesn't make this happen?

... movies on sale don't really come as avi's I believe.

One thing I can suggest is to look into some Video Editing software, as they allow for inporting of various video file formats, and publishing into MPEG files.

They generally are very good at keeping the sound/visual in tact, yet allow you to alter this should they become seperated.

You also have the advantage ov being able to edit out parts you'd prefer weren't there.

a sure-fire way to stop this happening is to stop being tight and just BUY THE DAMN MOVIE!!!!
