I never knew choosing a new PC could be so difficult. Anyway, after deciding that, although iMac's look amazing, a PC was still the way to go.

I'm not going to bother to go into specs etc, but is it worth it to buy a new PC at the end of the summer?

I'm in Year 11 at the moment, just about to finish GCSEs. Now, bearing in mind I'm going to have this PC all the way through Uni too, I need a PC that's near top of the line.

So, would it be pointless buying it at the end of the summer, or should I wait until Christmas/next year/two years?

How drastically will PC's have changed by the three periods above?

Yes, your opinion is indeed important.

Thanks

Buy the most expensive one and just use it to surf the internet.

It'll be fun.

Wouldnt bother with an Audigy 2 as the NF7S has its own built in sound. The built in sound actually handles very well. In tests it showed the onboard sound beating the Audigy 2. The only reason to get Audigy 2 is if you want EAX. If not then most will see that the onboard sound on the NF7S is more than sufficent.

Anyway those specs are the same sort as mine. Except add a XP2800, and then add 2x512mb DDR400, change 9700 Pro for a 9800 Pro, and then change the CD writer for a DVD writer.

Alright, thanks.

I'm currently on £15, so by the time I've saved up they should be improved vastly.

Thanks for all your help.

Always. Any computer you buy will have either gone down in price or up in spec by the same time next month. If you wait until next month, the same thing happens. Bottom line is, if you wait for the price to drop, you'll wait forever.

I was configuring a Desktop on dell.co.uk earlier, and it comes to about £1000 with uprgrades on nearly all components.

Would it be cheaper by Christmas would you think?

If you're just in it to save money, then buy now, as you will spend forever waiting otherwise :O) The usual advice to someone in your position would be "don't wait", but Serial ATA will be a big jump in hard drive technology, and it might be worth your while to wait until the industry has properly made that jump before you buy.
