Outside the exam hall is a diagram clearly showing where you'll be sitting. Inside, desks are clearly named in alphabetical order. Yet without fail, at every single exam, there will be half a dozen or so people who fail to find their seat without assistance from an invigilator.

Why is this? How is it possible that these people will, in just a few weeks time, be graduating with degrees?

"Inability to follow basic instructions and/or lack of understanding of alphabtical ordering."

People with those qualities should be working in supermarkets, not getting degrees. Those who turn up late are excused, and for those that don't I'll allow a little slack for 'exam nerves', but thoe ones who've been at University for THREE YEARS and STILL fail to comprehend a seating system simple enough for primary school children, do not deserve that much slack.

Whatever the government says, we should not be getting more people into higher education. You can't flog a dead horse. University should only be for those who have a genuine ability or desire to achieve something, not for those who have to use their fingers to count.

Yeah I definitely think university is losing its prstige. It is supposed to bring out the best minds, to bring about an intellectual elite. It worked for 500 years in Britain when it was exclusive. The moment it goes all mainstream Britain loses its empire. Sure not related, but I get to moan about two things at the one time.

For my last Economics exam i spent my last night revising inflation Unemployment. These are major topics and I thought they'd come up for sure as our exam consisted of a number of questions from which we had to pick our favourite two.

guess what? inflation & unemployment didnt come up. I spent so much time revising every single detail about them (all the different charts and graphs etc) I just emotionally sank...Tried to waffle on about crap i had little idea about.

Its only the first year, so the exam means nothing, but i'm not even sure if i got the 35% to make it into next year!

What I don't know now I very badly need to know by tomorrow afternoon.

I'm relying on short-term memory here.. I may not remember a thing that I'm revising tonight and tomorrow morning by this time next week, but so long as I can store it for a few hours, that's all I need.

What you don't know now you never will know.

I never revise the day before an exam, never harmed me.

True, but you'd presume that people should be in a mentally active state prior to finals.

My last exam is tomorrow. I should be revising instead of posting here...

And another thing, just because some people are a bit incompetent or sometimes a little stupid doesn't automatically mean they're thick.

Half the time I'm a total clutz, but I'm still looking at a minimum 2.1 in Geography and quite possibly a first *crosses fingers*

We just got told to find our seats back during GCSEs/A levels. We managed that, yet these people can't find their seats when they've been shown where they are?

Once again, my lack of faith in university is shown.

You have a seating plan at your Uni ? That's all like A Level stuff...

We get told what colour our paper is, if the room is a large one shared with another exam, and then to go in and sit at a desk with the right colour paper. No messing around with stupid plans, just go in, sit down.

Same if it is a small room for the exam, go in, sit down, end of story.

If they tried to make us stick to a plan we'd think it was daft...
