If you consider the most anticipated titles for the playstation 2, you think of metal gear solid 2, Gran turismo 3, Wipeout 4, Resident evil 4, Then people complain about there being too many sequals. The only people to blame is the consumers, if your fed up with these franchises then dont buy them. The game developers are there to make money, and its not worth it to them to come up with new ideas. If somethinmg sells then why stop selling it?
We the consumer need to give them a reason to come up with fresh Ideas. It is then that we will see truly ground breaking titles. Think of the origonal Metal gear solid and Gran turismo, they were revolutionery, because they were origonal and different, big money was spent on them at a risk. So I encourage all developers to give us something New.

I agree entirely about the point about sequels. The people that moan about them simply shouldn't buy them. Also the fact that many of the games that are highly anticipated *are* sequels is down to people playing the previous versions, enjoying them immensely, and wanting to see what the developers can do with the game on improved technology.

On the other hand, games that are not sequels are a bit of an unknown - I'm really looking forward to Dark Cloud, Red Faction and The Getaway, but it's difficult to tell if they will live up to their initial promise. SSX is a great example - that took the magazines by surprise. So the anticipation level is countered by a feeling that you are being fed selective information and hype (The Bouncer looks like it will be a good example of this).

I like sequils. When a really good game has been released (MSG), it would be cool to see it a couple of years later on something faster and detailed (PS2). = MGS2: SOL!!!

You've got a point there but I still can't wait for Metal Gear Solid 2 sons of liberty and Gran Turismo 3 A-spec.
