In previous years an FA Cup tie was always assured a decent attendance. Now it seems most FA Cup ties receive lower attendance than League games. Fans are clearly voting with their feet and choosing a league match rather than a cup tie.

Falling attendances have been affecting the Worthington cup for a number of years. The status of the Worthington cup is so low that most of the top teams consider it meaningless, viewing it only as a decent opportunity to give reserves and fringe players some experience. How long will it be before the FA Cup is viewed in the same way ?.

It is a shame but the F.A Cup is becoming a less attractive competition each year. The only sides who seem to benefit are second, third and conference division teams who get further than the third round. There are still plenty of shocks to be had but the sorry thing is I doubt we will ever see another Hereford beat a Newcastle or a Sutton beating a Coventry - purely because the way football is going it just wont happen. Shame that UEFA decided to scrap the Euro Cup Winners Cup for the winners, as a UEFA Cup place up for grabs isnt the most appealing of prizes, considering you can enter via the Intertoto!!
The League Cup nowadays is just treated like a Mickey Mouse Cup by the bigger teams and I fear that soon the FA Cup will go the same way. It will be weird this season also not being at Wembley, but I doubt Liverpool will really care where it is being played once we get our hands on our second trophy of the season!!!
Lets just hope the final beats the entertainment level given by the teams involved over recent years!!
