Been researching for travelling tonight.

After trying to work out something to do with my life other than set out on the long road of unwanted career, and with some helpful pointers (nobs to Cookie Monster and Borat, amongst others), I was figuring on travelling.

New Zealand seemed like a good idea, and I've finally tracked down the specifics for their 1 year visa.

I knew you needed to show some financial backing, for time you weren't working, but I thought it was a few grand.

Turns out to be NZ$4200, plus flights, at approx. NZ$2000.
Equates to roughly £2,200

I can get hold of £1,800 through overdraft space (post-student) and premium bonds (21st birthday gift).
It's difficult to work here, but my friend is reasonably high up at Weatherspoons back in my uni town, and they're looking for staff.
Plus I can try to hit my parents for a bit. They always said they'd get me a 'proper' 21st gift too (from back in January). That's got to be good for a hundred or so...

Yep, I can get the money together somehow...

So, somehow and sometime soon, I'll be going to New Zealand for a year.

It scares me actually.
If I can't find a job (I can work for the full 12 months, but no more than 3 months for any one employer) and the cash runs out I'm in trouble.
If getting on my feet when there is difficult, I'm in trouble.

But that's good. My old basketball coach told me once, before a competition final, 'if you're feeling nervous then it shows it means something, it shows that winning is worth something'.
I don't remember the exact words, and there was a bit more swearing, but the point is a good one, the chance of meaningful achievement has to come with fear of failure.
Plus overcoming fear always rules.
Except with spiders, where it rules for about half an hour, then you're scared of them again.

Anyway, £2,200ish. *Dances*

Good luck dude.

How about some mass selling of painted GC controllers? More expensive than Memory cards, but people might be interested.

So who'll inspire me to get my ass in gear? :^)

Need to sort out some kind of job soon, save a bit. Or at least go claim some dole...

Hmm...

Lord of The Rings was filmed in New Zealand, the sets are all gone now of course, but if you pick up one of the many books available you can find the original filming locations.

I guess I'll have to look into the Hostels thing too.

Not sure how much time I want to spend travelling, I was thinking about renting somewhere in Wellington for a bit, sort of settle down for a few months. But I guess you have to try to see most of the country while you're there...

Aberystwyth.

They actually have an amateur team there too. Don't think they get many games, but it's a team none the less.

Where in the vacuum of Wales are you?

A few of my mates went last year, came back with no money but one of the best experiences they could get.
If you work and can find good work then it makes things a lot easier as they managed to get work on farms and apple picking but they said they were treated badly and paid poorly.

They said there are hostels all over that are cheap and some may even let you work there if you stay for a while. Most places also make their own alcohol cheaply so cheap drink everywhere.

Well that is you made 300posts Tig. But you are short on words. Go and write a big story, or find an old English assignment or something.
