Well, I'm mostly after Neutron Star stuff ... becuase that's all collapsed in on itself. But it's one step away from being a black hole (although I don't know what makes it one or the other) so the gravity must be pretty damn squishy.
But I can't think why it wouldn't be solid...

Mr No Shoes - I think you mean a star lives for that long, which is what I got. But it doesn't say anywhere how long the process of dying (from normal, to red giant, back down to white dwarf / neutron star) takes.
