Howard Finkel opened up the show to a fairly decent pop (for a ring announcer) and welcomed us all to the arena. Then Eric Bischoff came out, which surprised me as I had been told he wasn't making the trip. Bischoff cuts a promo telling us how lucky we all are, before he is interrupted by Austin. Austin plays up to the crowd, cutting a classic 'listing' promo, which allows alls the fans to shout 'what!?!' a lot. Austin brings out J.R. and the king, J.R. goes to shake Bischoff's hand before swerving away at the last minute. Austin gets some beers thrown in and shares a few with J.R., The King and Bischoff before Bischoff, predictably, gets stunnered. Huge pop, the crowd is surprisingly noisy for a Nottingham crowd (Forest don't get that sort of noise.
Hurricane Vs Lance Storm
Next up Hurricane comes out to a pop, which to my untrained ears was as loud, if not louder that that which Austin got! Very sound technical match with a lot of high spots. Hurricane grabs the win with the Shining Wizard.
Maven vs Al Snow
Maven and Snow both get decent pops. Al Snow is missing Head, which is dissapointing. Not quite up to the standard of Hurricane/Storm, but noteable for Snow turning and playing the heel mid-bout. Maven picks up the upset victory with a suplex/roll-up pin combo
Rico vs Goldust
Unsurprisingly entertaining match. Surprisingly good technically. Got annoyed mid-bout with some kid who kept screeching 'Rico's Gay'. Charles Robinson gets in the way of Goldust's 'Golden Globes' but Rico gets caught with a powerslam coming out of the corner. Lame finish, but chalk up a win for Goldust.
Val Venis vs Test w/ Stacy
Venis didn't pull any ladies out of the crowd. Stacy came out with Test, possibly because RAW hadn't yet aired over here. Bland match, probably the worst on the card (other than the main event), which is hard for me to say because I really like Venis. Stacy got the biggest pop out of anyone all night! Test told stacy to cover up with Venis' towel. Stacy up on apron, Venis nearly runs into her, ctaches a big boot. Test steals one.
Rodney Mack and Chris Nowinski vs The Dudley Boyz
Boring promos by Teddy Long and Chris Nowinski and rebuffed by Bubba 'I got one thing to say. You're going through tables'. Screw job finish as Nowinski hits Bubba with his stupid face mask. Mass booing. Nowinski and Mack set up a table, but Spike runs in for the save. Nowinski goes through a table 3D.
(IC Title) Christian (c) vs Booker T
Christian plays the chicken oh so well at the start of this one. Stupid, drunk fan runs in and gets tackle by Earl Hebner for his troubles. Very very solid match from two consistent performers who often don't get the credit they deserve. Another botched finish from Hebner, as Christian uses the ropes to pin Booker but Hebner falls out under the ropes and has to make the count from the floor, meaning he was actually looking straight up at Christian holding the ropes. Oops.
(Tag Team Title Match) La Resistance vs Kane and Van Dam (c)
Van Dam is sooo over with this crowd. Kane isn't far behind. Meaning that every move the champs do is cheered wildly in this one. A few chants of 'Eurotrash' greet the frenchmen. Kane and Van Dam pick up the win with a chokeslam followed by a five star, which I caught mid-flight with my fiance's zoom lens camera. Perfect. After the match, Van Dam slaps every pair of hands in the front row of the arena. Class.
(Women's Title Match) Trish Stratus vs Victoria vs Jazz (c)
Rodney Mack comes out and tells us that the WWE needs a black ring announcer, so he'll do it. Fairly standard match between these three who along with Molly Holly are in my opinion the best female wrestlers the WWE has ever seen. Jazz picks up the win in a fairly bland match, which suffered from being on after Kane and Van Dam. Oh and Trish came out at the start of this one with her cowboy hat replaced by a Robin Hood hat, which passed most of the crowd by, even after I tried to start a 'Robin Hood' chant...
(Main Event) Triple H and Chris Jericho w/ Ric Flair vs Scott Steiner w/Stacy and Kevin Nash w/Shawn Michaels
Yawn. Steiner and Nash as faces? Doesn't work. Why? Because at the points when they make hot tags and have to come in and clear the ring it's too slow and as a result unconvincing. Triple H put in an awful performance which didn't help, as his oppenents needed carrying. Chris Jericho was the highlight of this otherwise awful match. Amusingly everyone in the arena 'Woooooed' every time Flair moved. Nash picked up the win with a lazy looking Nashknife Powerbomb.
Overall, a very good event with more talent present than I had expected. Some outstanding matches from outstanding wrestlers who probably won't even make tonights card, while those who phoned in their performances will probably be rewarded with long, dull boring, matches.
Oh and a special mention to Maven who was the only competitior who bothered signing fans waiting at the gate's autographs. He stayed and signed so many that he almost missed the coach leaving. Class act.

It just shows that the lower carders can give good matches given the chance and the time. Well, that's what I got from it. :)
