Or so the rather forgetful Ken shouted.

Anyway. The point of this is to ask a simple question. Who was the greatest Street Fighter 2 character?

Lets have a run-down brain.

(Right, first up, Ryu.)

(Ryu is quite a dark character, and had some decent moves. Dragon punch, although difficult to pull off, was a very useful, and quite deadly move. As was the dragon ball thing.)

Ryu was a crap puncher, mind. Best to keep to kicks with him.

(E. Honda, only useful for his hundred hand slap, was a must for all wusses of the game. No-one ever used any of his other moves... basically because they were crap.)

(Blanka, another of the wusses favourites, bit like E. Honda, but he had good punches and kicks, and the rest of his moves weren't all that bad. Still, no-one ever used them, apart from the forward roll.)

The ending to Blankas fight was one of the weirdest mind.

(Guile was quite a popular character... never really worked out why. Only two special moves, Sonic boom, which was easily dodged, and the backflip kick thing, which was actually quite good.)

He had one of the best arenas to fight in mind. The jet plane.

(Guile did have very strong punches and kicks mind. If you were to dedicate yourself to that character, you would be a force to be reckoned with.)

(Next up, Ken. The less masculine version of Ryu.)

Eh?

(It is quite obvious... blond hair, showoff... he must be gay.)

The only real difference between Ryu and Ken, is the throws. Ken does this roll when he throws with his leg.

(I think Ken had a weaker kick as well.)

(Chun Li was the only woman in the game. Lovely legs.)

Lovely legs.

(Quite strong too. Her spinning kick was good, and her throws were quite impressive. Pretty crappy punchs mind.)

She could jump off the side walls as well. That was helpful.

(Next was Zangief, never really liked him... and he had a very odd ending too.)

All he seemed to do was throw. And that spinning arm thing.

(The PROPER throw, where he spinned around and all, was the most hard hitting move in the game. Was pretty hard to pull off mind. Not a good character for someone to just pick up and play.)

And that bloke in his background... the alcoholic one. All he did was drink... from the same bottle... all the time...

(Dhalism was popular among newbies to the game, and hardcore players too. His rubber arms and legs were good for the newcomers, and his moves were excellent.)

I never mangaged to totally master his teleportation... One thing not a lot of people knew about Dhalism was that when you jumped, if you pulled down and punched or kicked, he would do this spinning floating move. It was a good move, and could even defeat Ryu's dragon punch.

(The first boss, Balrog, was only good for one thing.)

Punching?

(Yes, and combos. He did nothing else. He couldn't even jump very high.)

Quite a good character mind. But he had a crap ending. All the bosses did.

(Second boss, was Vega. So many people thought he was a girl...)

Long hair. The second of the less masculine men.

(He had these Wolverine like prongs on his hands, so his punchs were very good. He had quite a few good moves mind.)

One of the best moments of the game is when you start to beat the cap out of Vega, and you break his claws off.

(Sagat was this amazing character... very fast, and very strong punches and kicks.)

But he copied all of Ryus moves. Three characters with the same moves... seemed a bit lazy.

(One of the more beautiful backgrounds mind...)

Yeah.

(Lastly, M. Bison.)

I always though M. Bison looked like a teacher I had in my old school.

(The quite ultimate Neo-Nazi figure, M. Bison wanted to rule the world with an iron fist. Quite literaly as well, because he had a electric current running through it, which allowed that amazing move...)

Very hard to beat. But I never thought he had enough moves.

So. There are the characters. So which one did YOU use all the time?

When I used to play this in the arcades I started with Blanka. I found I could normally get through to the bosses with him.

When I eventually got the Turbo edition on the SNES I think that Sagat was my favourite character, as he could do all of Ryu and Kens decent moves, except the spinning kick thing, but he could also throw the fireball things at two hights. Then there was the special knee move, that always caught the opponents unaware.

His ending, like all of the bosses, was naff, however.

I always played as Ken. Don't get me wrong I was never confused but the one thing I liked about ken was that he was cool. Ryu was supposed to be from Japan, what a Joke! He didn't look Japanese in the slightest! all the others were wierd I mean Dhalsim's goofy arm thing just made me laugh I lost because I was laughing so much every time I chose him! I have been a wrestling fanatic all my life and so I like Zangief, only did his spinning piledriver move about 4 times though. all the others were crap and you had to wait 5 seconds to pull off a decent move!

Ken was ace he was quicker and better than Ryu and I could believe he was from America! I completed it about 100 times with Ken, shame about the wedding ending, I think he should have kicked Ryu's @$$ and taken over as the Street Fighing Champion!

Spinal and Cinder? When did we switch to killer instinct?

Ryu was da best. Played as him all the time, execpt when my friends wouldn't let me because I kept winning....
then I'd play as just about anyone. They're all good once you know they're moves. No...more likely my friends were just crap.

Dhalsim annoyed people the most, so he was the best.
