After reading the RPG topic, I had to make a FPS one! So blab on lets beat the RPG topic in messages. I personally feel that Doom is the all time FPS game. Of course, it doesn't compare to the games of today and tomorrow but it was one of the games that started it all.

I've played an import version. It's hard to tell what the hells going on becaus of the Japenese text but the game it's self was as good as any you will ever find. It's coming out within the next 6 months by the way

It has to be Doom. Even though the graphics don't stand up to Q3 or UT of Half Life etc - it still has fantastic gameplay and brilliant level design.
Does noone think Quake3 or UT?
Does that mean BFD is still getting a UK release?? Its just someone said it could be prevented for being too immature!!

In a way your kinda your right, the internet has revolutionised FPS and many other multiplayer games... but for my money it was LANS not WANS, Internet, etc... that made Doom what it was... college students using the campus network to play games, etc...
Since although FPS have been around since the 286, and Castle Wolfenstein can be said to have moved the field to new expectaions... it was Doom that people realy stopped to look at...
(although I'm looking forward to the new Castle Wolfenstein)

Of course it has to be Goldeneye, or it could be doom it could be either of them, because the rest are just some clones, the very best stealth shoot em' up looks like MEtal Gear Solid, Rainbow 6 seems to short.
