Some people might know what i'm saying with regards to Second party developers but some of you might not so i'll explain.

A first party developer are people such as Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft

A third party developer are companys who make games for all systems like Capcom or Namco

But tell me if i'm wrong but isn't Nintendo the only games company which has second party developers. These are seperate games companys who make games for one single company. Everyone knows RARE some may know Retro studios (people who left RARE, Acclaim, Capcom and many others who formed this company) they are making the upcoming metroid.
Few know about Left field who make Nintendo sports games and a few might know Silicon Knights their making the upcoming N64 game Eternal Darkness and are making another adult game Too Human on the Gamecube, These are Nintendo's horror company (too childish - ha).

Sega may have one but do Sony and are they as good as these 4 i doubt it. Expect so many Gamecube only games to be released now.

Nope. RARE made games for the spectrum but although they made stunning games they started to run low on funds an Nintendo helped out ever since Rare have been completley faithful and I tell no lie Nintendo did ask Rare to make more Shoot em ups so Nintendo have some violent games although they believed Perfect Dark Was a little too violent and asked Rare to change it but Rare persuaded them otherwise. It was the same for Jet force Gemini where Rare was asked to make the main characters more older as Nintendo saw it as improper for Kids to beat blow ants to bit. But Nintendo are trying to change their image just look to Silicon Knights Nintendo have them aboared and they make horror games such as Eternal Darkness and Too Human. Also Retro studios making the shoot em up Metroid.

How Rare got tied to Nintendo?

Nintendo bought a stake in them, I believe.

2 things one Nintendo did ask Rare to make more violent games BUT Nintendo then asked them to damp it down a bit but Rare changed there mind and 2 we never had Acclaim although they prefered Nintendo as it was only the GBC and the N64 (oh and PC) that TUrok came out on. Nintendo have Rare, Silicon knights, Retro studios and Left field

Make note that Nintendo have RARE tied with them for a lifetime, and RARE wouldn't turn their backs on them.
Although some Goldeneye coders got to work on Timesplitters on the PS2, that wasn't so good as their previous game.
I dunno how Nintendo and RARE got together but since success from the Donkey Kong series on the SNES, they've been happy to work for Nintendo, and now they've silicon knights and sadly acclaim (they are losing it).
But with more second party companies making games only for nintendo that will make sure their best games only come on their machine.

Not right Dringo. First off, Nintendo asked Rare if the violence in Perfect Dark was so necessary, and Rare convinced them, same for Bad Fur Day.

Both 18's.

Sure Rare make good games but very few of them. they have only made 8 on the 64 and 2 on there way and 2 of these weren't too good. And what about playstation they rely on Namco, Capcom and Square soft as well as many others which Nintendo have making games aswell. Also did you know Donkey Kong and Banjo Kazooie where Nintendo's idea and Goldeneye's license Nintendo also got. Nintendo also help them with development. Although RARE are a completley seperate games conmpany they do rely heavily on Nintendo. Also What about Nintendo's Pokemon, Mario, Zelda, Lylat wars, Riqa and many others. Trust me Nintendo and Rare are a team Nintendo even supply them with equipment. Did you know Nintendo asked Rare to make more violent games in order to change the companys image.

Nintendo's Second party developer Rare sure have helped them, without Rare I think Nintendo would be lost! Mario can only take people so far, it'll take more Banjo's and Joanna Darks to keep Nintendo going. I suppose Joanna Dark could keep most people going but.....BACK TO THE TOPIC!

Most of the good games on my N64 shelf are made by Rare, I am not boasting but look at it like this. I buy Nintendo for the sake of it I am a fan, just like people support football teams, I like football as well, but if I will buy a game if it is only 80%. So people who don't necessarily like Nintendo aren't going to to the same. Nintendo's life line is Rare, everyone needs a step to stand on, are Rare Nintendo's?
