Some people might know what i'm saying with regards to Second party developers but some of you might not so i'll explain.

A first party developer are people such as Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft

A third party developer are companys who make games for all systems like Capcom or Namco

But tell me if i'm wrong but isn't Nintendo the only games company which has second party developers. These are seperate games companys who make games for one single company. Everyone knows RARE some may know Retro studios (people who left RARE, Acclaim, Capcom and many others who formed this company) they are making the upcoming metroid.
Few know about Left field who make Nintendo sports games and a few might know Silicon Knights their making the upcoming N64 game Eternal Darkness and are making another adult game Too Human on the Gamecube, These are Nintendo's horror company (too childish - ha).

Sega may have one but do Sony and are they as good as these 4 i doubt it. Expect so many Gamecube only games to be released now.

I think you missed out HAL in the list of second party developers, although I'm not sure if they're just an in-house Nintendo developer, but Smash brothers excellent anyway. However, Rare DID make some games for the Mega Drive/Genesis, Championship pro AM and snake rattle & roll, and possibly for the master system too.

Although Nintendo do make some great games, i think they relied on Rare to help with the sales of N64 in certain parts of the world. Nintendo were to busy marketing pokemon to have time to really concentrate on the N64. When Mario 64 was released Nintendo were supposed to be working on a sequal that has never seen the light of day, fair enough they got to cracking Zelda games released. Nintendos own games seemed to be more for the Japanese market though, without Rare the success of the N64 in Britain and America may not have been such a hit as it is now.
With the Gamecube about to be released Nintendo are going to have to concentrate on making games for it. We want to see more good quality games coming from them as well as companies such as Rare. Also the need for more third party games are necessary for the Gamecube to compete in the market. With the N64 to many developers ignored putting in the extra effort to make games for it when they could easily make CDs for the playstation. Part of the playstations success was the amount of third party games that were released for it spreading over a wide genre of games. The N64 hardly seen a decent fighting game or racing game, the reason that a lot of playstations were bought. Nintendo will have to stop trying to concentrate on cutsey platform games and get some serious hardcore games for serious hardcore gamers.

Now come on Simon where wuld you be without Goldeneye or Perfect Dark

Would I be obssesed in Computer games if it wasn't for Donkey Kong.

What i'm trying to say is Nintendo may not make violent games but the other 4 do so Nintendo's second party developers may grab those other systems.

Also I've been paintballing and although arguably the biggest pile of S*** when i came out i was hailed as a hero

What I heard is that Rare used to be "Ultimate Play the Game" or something.

Nintendo of America bought them.

A few years later, Nintendo of Japan gave a few handy tips to Rare which lead to the production of DKC and Killer Instinct.

Now Rare have grown from strength to strength making the likes of Goldeneye on the N64.

That was the second chapter of the story i didn't know where the name ultimate went so cheers for informing me. When i said Rare has been completley faithful i was telling no lie between NES and SNES Rare made no other game for any other system. And now to prove you wrong Rare made little games for SNES WHATTTTTT! KIller Instinct 1/2/3 and Donkey Kond 1/2/3 that is 6 games and there is also many more.

Well, really!... If I didnt enjoy being right all the time, I wouldnt bother... :)

Ultimte (Play the Game) making games for the Speccy (and a few C64 titles) Until the 8-Bit computer market started to fade...

Whereupon, they sold the name Ultimate to US Gold, setup Rare and started making games for the NES (BattleToads, etc...)

Not releasing anything for the majority of the SNES's life, towards its end, they released DK and Killer Instinct... which Nintendos boss liked the ladyshaver so much, he bought the company...
