The word itself scares me lol...
Friday 13th is unlucky for some, or so we are lead to believe. What are your views on this day!
Do we just assume that every thing that goes wrong on this day is because it is Friday 13th.
I have things that are unlucky for me most days, i never pick up on it. To me friday the 13th is just another day, no different from any other. So why if something goes wrong should i turn round and say... Oh well its friday the 13th, bound to have bad luck today!
Do any of you dread this day when it comes around?
Are you warey of leaving the house etc.. and are more careful about the things you do?

If you look at most of the origins of these superstitions, they do make sense at the time, but not these days. Others are just plain weird and based on religion of some sort.
Some examples:
Walking under ladders - believed to come partially from the idea that through breaking the triangle of ladder against wall you are defying the holy trinity. Prior to this, and probably obsorbed by the Catholic church, was the fact that a triangle was considered the symbol of life and walking under it would tempt the fates (gods etc).
Black Cat - this is due to cats being considered the most often used Witches familiars (acting as their eyes and ears and sometimes even being considered as changling witches and warlocks themselves). 'Crossing youy path' more likely meant just not letting them see what you were doing.

> ceiling collapsed on him ...
Oops! That made me lol though :S Hope it was just a myth!
I remember reading a story, probably just a myth, about some guy that had such bad luck on friday 13th, one year he decided to spend the whole day in bed just to be safe ... his bedroom ceiling collapsed on him ...
This is usually due to the believed day of the Crucifixion of Christ or another biblical event. Pretty much all of the Friday 13th superstition can be linked back to Christianity during the early 1900's.
13 is considered unlucky due in part to the 13th guest at the last supper being Judas. There are other occurences of the origin of the number 13 being unlucky, but the biblical one does seem to be the most obvious and any such fear of the number 13 seems to stem from 13 people sitting down at a dinner table, as the 13 sat down at the last supper.
As for me, I can't really see how either a day or a number can be inherently unlucky. But if you believe enough that this day will be unlucky then you're more than likely going to make bad luck for yourself or put anything that happens today down to the date.
13: The Devil's Dozen
It is said: If 13 people sit down to dinner together, all will die within the year. The Turks so disliked the number 13 that it was practically expunged from their vocabulary (Brewer, 1894). Many cities do not have a 13th Street or a 13th Avenue. Many buildings don't have a 13th floor. If you have 13 letters in your name, you will have the devil's luck (Jack the Ripper, Charles Manson, Jeffrey Dahmer, Theodore Bundy and Albert De Salvo all have 13 letters in their names). There are 13 witches in a coven.
Bad Friday
It is said: Never change your bed on Friday; it will bring bad dreams. Don't start a trip on Friday or you will have misfortune. If you cut your nails on Friday, you cut them for sorrow. Ships that set sail on a Friday will have bad luck – as in the tale of H.M.S. Friday ... One hundred years ago, the British government sought to quell once and for all the widespread superstition among seamen that setting sail on Fridays was unlucky. A special ship was commissioned, named "H.M.S. Friday." They laid her keel on a Friday, launched her on a Friday, selected her crew on a Friday and hired a man named Jim Friday to be her captain. To top it off, H.M.S. Friday embarked on her maiden voyage on a Friday, and was never seen or heard from again.
