Macho agrees to join Chelsea
Wednesday, May 21, 2003

Austrian international goalkeeper Jurgen Macho has agreed to become a Chelsea player in principle although a deal will not be signed until July 1st.

Macho, who will be 26 in August, has been at Sunderland for three seasons but is coming to the end of his contract with the relegated Wearsiders. He made 27 appearances there including one in Sunderland’s defeat at Stamford Bridge back in November.

Having Carlo Cudicini as England's goalkeeper would be like having Claudio Ranieri as England manager....

Not only would it be "wrong", but the others players and staff wouldn't be able to understand a word that was said!

I think Carlo's going to apply for citizenship eventually, since Toldo and Buffon are the only 'keepers Italy ever play.

Cudicini made some great saves in that game and in the original tie, and was given player of the round. Seaman's not consistent, although he did make a great save against sheffield united.Carlo a class act, as is friedel, but the italian gets my vote.

Out of curiosity, with a show of hands please:

How many people would want Carlo to play for England?
