Right at the back of the top of my mouth, behind my normal teeth, were little gum bits, where they sort of faded into the roof of my mouth.
I've found teeth growing there...
Just begining to break through behind the old ones.

While it's always fun for everything you eat to taste of blood, I've been using the same teeth - no changes - for years now. I'm 21 and can't remember the last time I had a new tooth.

First question - are they 'extra', replacement, or making up the number I was supposed to have?
Anyone know how many teeth you're supposed to have in your mouth, and whether it's common to get more?

Second question - wisdom teeth: I've a bit about these fabled beauties and potential stars of the next Indiana Jones film, but never paid attention because I didn't care.
Anyone know what the deal with them is, and if it's possible to get them at my age (21, for the skim-readers)?
And do they really make you wise?

Third question - are they going to push my old teeth out of the way, and if so will that involve painful and/or expensive dentistry?

Got mine, well, mostly. Coming through at an angle, so they're pushing against my other ones.

Interestingly, dentist found out in a recent x-ray that I've got one more tooth than everyone else. It's actually inside my jaw, below all the other ones. How queer.

I got my wisdom teeth at 17. Very, very wise for my age, I say!

Watch out when they start to grow a bit bigger- they caused horrible ulcers for me! ;-)

They are wisdom teeth. If they were nearer the front and pointy I'd start worrying.

However, there are a few rules for everyone to follow when they get them;

Do not try to take them out with pliers.
Do not be suprised if they hurt as they are coming through.
Do not attempt to get yourself in to the Guiness Book for the most amount of teeth in a mouth, they are perfectly normal.

Do try to scam your way out of work/college for at least one day due to the pain.

They sound like wisdom Teeth to me, your about exactly the right age at 21, I think I started to get mine at about 20. They can take a fair while to come through, and you get them both top and bottom. Some people who don't have enough room for them need to get them removed, but most people don't. If I were you I would ask your dentist at your next check-up.

But it is possible to have wisdom teeth just in addition to the first set?

Do they make an appearance on the bottom set too? Or is it top-exclusive?

And if they aren't the source of wisdom, are they the product of it?

If there is a decent gap at the back i wouldnt worry about it, chances are your mouth has already undergone conformational changes to facilitate the arrival of the new knashers.

Hmm. I can floss, but sometimes the.. floss.. gets sort of wedged between the teeth...

Might book an appointment.

They sound like wisdom teeth.

They do not endown wisdom.

They may move your teeth out of position, or they may not. If your teeth are quite tight together you may want to visit a dentist.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
