Taken from Football365:
David O'Leary has been named as the new manager of Aston Villa having agreed a three-year contract.
The former Republic of Ireland international replaces Graham Taylor, who resigned last week.
O'Leary took over as Leeds manager in 1998 and led the team to the Champions League semi-finals two years ago before losing his job at Elland Road 11 months ago.

I think he will help Villa regain top 6 in the Premiership, and will hopefully attract some good young talented players. We will surely finish above the Blue Noses now!!!
Also happy to see Gareth Barry has been named in the England squad.
Come on Villa
=D

You are at least 2 years away from that at the moment... miracles dont happen over night in football... you cant expect to go from an almost relegated team to a team that gets into Europe within 12 months, this is the Premiership in 2003 were talking about.
The problems at Villa run a lot deeper than just bad management... theres many contracts at the club that need to be tidied up and many faces have to come and go before any huge strides can be made... this wont happen as quickly as some people might think it will.
Im biased obviously but i honestly still see Villa finishing behind Birmingham next season (just like they did this season hehe)... an infrastructure at Villa park is yet to be installed. Birmingham are currently the Midlands top team, like it or lump it... its a statistical fact and theres no shying away from that.
One thing is certain tho... O'leary will be more able to draft in a better pedigree of player than Taylor was able to... O'leary is also less likely to sign any bad eggs or grossly over valued players that just sit on the bench.
Also think that O'learys first signing will be David Dunn, who has just refused to sign a new contract.
Also think there COULD still be a chance to sign Bowyer because:

Also think Lescott would be a good buy, to replace Alpay.
> Reckon O'Leary will be able to attract Bowyer to villa park?
I think he has gone to Newcastle.
;)
