Taken from Football365:
David O'Leary has been named as the new manager of Aston Villa having agreed a three-year contract.
The former Republic of Ireland international replaces Graham Taylor, who resigned last week.
O'Leary took over as Leeds manager in 1998 and led the team to the Champions League semi-finals two years ago before losing his job at Elland Road 11 months ago.

I think he will help Villa regain top 6 in the Premiership, and will hopefully attract some good young talented players. We will surely finish above the Blue Noses now!!!
Also happy to see Gareth Barry has been named in the England squad.
Come on Villa
=D

New developments surrounding David Dunn...
Birmingham have offered Blackburn £5.5 million for Dunn... we'll see if Man Utd come in with a similar bid in the next couple of days (Villa also)
Unless, of course, he's talking about doing things the "easy" way by getting them in through the Fair Play leagues...
Although, a Top 5 finish isn't really all that far away for 'Villa, I don't think. They've still got some quality players in their squad - like Vassel, Hendrie and Gudjonsson (if they can sigh him).
All he'll really need to do is bring in a few cheap, second-string Premiership footballers - like Steve Bruce did with Matthew Upson - to bolster up his squad numbers, and to somehow restore the confidene in these players, which was 'destroyed' under the reign of Graham Taylor.
And, after his Leeds days, he's bound to find a few more Vassel's and even Barry's in the reserves who he feels will be well-worth bringing-through.
I just think it takes more than introducing 2 midfielders into a squad to make them a good team, hardly a week goes by without me reading the Evening Mail and it saying something like...
'I might quit' or 'Im not happy' by various different players...
The latest Villa player i heard complaining (but rightfully in my opinion) was Darius Vassel over his wages... apparently Kachloul is on £40,000 and not playing 1st team football whilst Vassel is reportedly only on £5,000 (five thousand, not a typos) a week, now i can see why Vassel and International player is a little upset...
That is what i meant by taking time... theres much at Villa Park that needs to be addressed before the team can fulfill its potential... all this will take time as there are many other examples of unhappy players at Villa... ALL these areas of the dressing room need to be sorted out before any great strides are achieved and the team starts to play like it could/should.
Sorry if i didnt make that more clear before.

Look at Ipswich a few seasons ago. Came up from Division 1 and finished top 5. All Villa lack is quality midfielders, and the signing of Bowyer and others could do the trick.
Villa could of finished higher than they did, but we were very poor at finishing. Villa had the most shpts off target in the Premiership and nearly had the worst Away record.
If we get that sorted, anything can happen.
If your good enough then you warrant a place in the team, within reason.
