A got a www.xxx.co.uk from Freeola. Normally, I can skip the www. and just key in xxx.co.uk, I can reach my site, but now I got an error page from Freeola, can somebody explain to me please.

One more question: why some websites don't need www? (like those free web space sites)You can only key in http://xxx.xxx.com (not http://www.xxx.xxx.com)

I guess it depends on who they have figured the virtual domains in the webserver's configuration file.

From what the freeola-mod said, no you won't loose what you have uploaded to your Web Space.

But, if it makes you feel better about it, firstly create a Freeola classemail Address, which will also create a domain name for it. So when you do unhost your Domain, you'll still have an address to goto to view the site.

You'll need to download E-mail first though, as when you re-create E-mail Accounts, you may be given different ID's, therefor any E-mail you don't download before will be hidden somewhere within your account.

So:
Download All E-mails.
Unhost.
Re-host.
Wait 24 hours.
Re-create E-mail Accounts.
Update your Outlook to reflect the new sr0123456-ID's for the account.

If I was to unhost. Would I lose all of the stuff I've got uploaded?

Thanks cjh,
love to hear from Freeola about un-host or re-host before I do anything please.

Another thing I heard was that without a www., you may just fetching web pages from a server not from the Web, I know my question may be silly, but just want to know more. Thanks!

File permissions not set right?

or

Pages in a non-public folder with the host?

Those are two (similar) problems I've had in the past. I don't know a lot about it mind, but they might be worth looking into.

With Freeola, older hosted Domains do not work without www.

To enable this, you have to unhost, then rehost your Domain name, however, doing so will alter your settins (mail usernames for example) so if you do this, ensure you've downloaded all E-mails, and do it at a time where having your site down for 24 hours won't affect you as much.

Any files uploaded won't be lost, but E-mails may be un-accessable, as when you re-create your E-mail Addresses, you may be given different usernames for them than before.

It seems that with Freeola you have to put the www. at the beginning. It doesn't work for me either.

Who is your host? Maybe their server is down or you made a mistake with uploading the files? What is your domain?
