Just got home from work (gardening at a National Trust property), and having spent the last 2 hours freezing my butt off enduring thunder, lightning and hail storms. I was just wondering if any of you have encountered any today?

And, do you like storms or hate them?

You were lucky you were inside. I on the other hand was outside, up some scaffolding quickly taking it down (having just been doing some work on a statue in the garden). I knew the day I left my jumper at home something like that would happen.

It was a really bizarre day though. One minute it is lovely and warm, then next there’s thunder and lightning and it’s pelting down with rain, then to top it of a few quick hard blasts of hail.

Had hail, thunder and lightning too the other day. Can't remember which day though. But it's SO loud when you're in the conservatory, it's scary!! Hail stones were the size of those yucky red cinnamon flavour sweets. Biggish.

I remember when I was on a family holiday in France; we heard some thunder and so set of in our car (in our pj’s) to chase it. After about 20mins we decided to head back only to realize that we had all been watching the storm, and had no idea where we were. We had no map and all the damn roads looked the same. Picture a 40-year-old businessman, in his pj’s using his limited French to try to ask a local farmer how to get back to our village. Ah memories.

Camping in Spain, in a tent with the torrential rain bashing down on the roof waking you up in the middle of the night.

You'd hear a thunder storm approaching in the middle of the night and it would get closer and closer with the flashes getting brighter and the thunder getting louder.

It's great but when you find out that the storm has gone directly over the top of you and the lightning has struck a car about 50 meters away it does get a bit scary!

One of the best experiences though, camping during a thunderstorm!

Anyway, we had hail yesterday and a roll of thunder but that was it.

I was in a roof top swimming pool in Thailand when there was a torrential storm taking place; rain was riveting down and sheet lightning was illuminating the angry sky. It was awesome and refreshing.

I will stop moaning now i see english has been labouring in it. I was caught in the last rain storm in freezing cold after my exam

I like watching thunder and lightening storms but not so good when your caught in one

Dark brooding skies, the light of the day turning an eery yellow shade - I like storms, especially thunder storms in summer. Haven't been aware of any later though.

We had Hail yesterday

We had hailstones (at least that's what they sounded like) about 30 mins ago and now we are back to sunshine.

Much prefer a really good thunder and lightning storm to the sunshine.
