Just purchased these books. About half way through the fall of reach, am a little disappointed with it to be honest. there seems to be little plot, its all just fighting and killing. Not bad though. hope it gets better, and hope the flood is better too.

The finest book of this genre would have to be 'The Forever War' by Joe Haldeman.

Just a recommendation for you sci-fi buffs. Also Frederik Pohls 'Gateway' is a good one.

Any you can recommend that are *good*?

Well i've just started reading the hobbit, soon to be reading the lord of the rings books, then finishing with the simirilian or something (all of these books are connected if you never knew) and i have calculated that it will take me about 2 months to read them all.

As for the halo books, i read the first chapter or something off the site and it looked rather exciting, but if the whole book was just that repeated then i don't think i'll bother with it.

I was hoping this was a topic about either the band or the game. It's neither, and therefore totally irrelevant to this forum.

Post your books stuff in the BOOKS forum! :P

well people, I've read fall of reach and am two thirds through the flood, and here are my thoughts.

The fall of reach was probably the best of the two (so far), it had quite an original storyline, and some interesting background on the master chief. However, the story-telling is sub-standard, and ends up boring. It has a few moments towards the end, but ultimately very mediocre.

the flood. if you've played through the game, this is the same story, with a few sub-plots thrown in. however, the bulk of the book is just endless descriptions of battles, which, after you've read a few, become tiresome and very much the same. I will probably read through to the end to see if there is anything good at the end, but I severely doubt it. I'm only reading it because I haven't got round to ordering my next stephen king novel.
3/10

avoid these unless you are a hardcore halo fan and have to know more about the characters.

my next book will be 'the long walk' by mister king I think.....

they're not aimed at ten year olds, theres quite a bit of violence in them. all the characters from the game are in the fall of reach, master chief, cortana, captain keyes etc. worth a read if you liked the game.

Are these books aimed at 10 year olds or are they sophisticated?

And whos in them? Master Chief and Cortanna?
