i want to start learning how to make proffesional web designs or logos, where should i start? any help appretiated

If you want to make logos for sites you might want to try getting hold of a free graphics package, I cant really think of any good ones right now though so maybe someone else can help you with that.
If you're really serious about it though, get down the shops and buy Adobe Photoshop 7. Personally I only have version 6 but its a mint program and you can produce some great graphics using it. Im not exactly great with it but heres an example of something I've just made:
