If there is any more swearing on these discussion forums then we will have to discontinue them. The situation has got so bad, we are considering police action for some of the horrible comments posted on the WWF Forums. Honestly, can anyone who swears on these forums please grow up, what you are doing is childish, I don't care how old you are. The appropriate action will be taken if the swearing persists and we will monitor the people who do. Just stop it, it's not funny and it's not clever.

The Society existed for many years mainly to organise an Annual Summer Show on the Legion Field (then referred to as the School Playing Fields and by permission of EEC. At that time a major Village Fete type event with loads of stalls including 'Bowling for the Pig' (yes a real live one) and an auction of prize vegetables at the end of the Show in a marquee. Over the years various people have tried to find out when the Society was first formed. This year will be the 90th Annual Summer Show but it goes back several more years. No records for 1897-9 or 1900-03 but Shows were reported in July 1904 and 1905 from searches through Essex County and Standard and Colchester Reference Library. Shows were apparently not held during either of the World Wars
I have a few old schedules from the 1950s and 1970s when they were supported by advertisers and there was a large section devoted to children. Trophies presented then are still being won although classes have been reduced
If anyone has any memorabilia relating to early shows or any information Please contact me [email protected]

Actually police are very likely to follow up such things, as results in this field are very easy to come by, and makes their stats look very good.

They CAN arrest you for indecent display. If someone shouts and swears in a public place, they can and WILL be arrested for not keeping the peace. This is a public place, so the same rules apply. So keep your mouths shut if you have nothing mature to say.

Continue this excellent work...
Brilliant! As usual the careful and intuitive production that Freeola puts into everything it sets out to do, I am delighted.
Wonderful...
... and so easy-to-use even for a technophobe like me. I had my website up in a couple of hours. Thank you.
