Thanks for any info.
Maybe too late now if you've got the splitter s/w, but I managed to get a direct cable connection running from Win 98 to XP. There was a really helpful step-by-step at
http://www.lpt.com/Support/DCC-SetUp/dcc-setup.htm
Although it does sound like you've got past that stage. My problem was that the Win98 box refused to find the XP machine automatically, and I had to type in the name of the host in a dialog.

describes this problem.
Anyway, I've since given up with that and set up an Ethernet link between the two - much easier.
hjsplit will do that.
Just pick the file you want to split and the size you want each chunk to be then use hjsplit again to join it.
Is it just part of the normal WinZip program?
ok, option two:
Does anyone know of direct Cable connection on Windows??
I've atteempted to set up a parallel - parallel connection between the old machine (Windows 98) and the new (Windows XP) to just cop the files I wish to keep over.
Both connect ok, and set up a little network, and I've selected which folder on the old computer to allow XP to view and copy, but I am unable to locate this folder on the XP machine anywhere, so I'm unable to select which files to grab from the old machine.
Could anyone esplain to me what I have to do to send/copy files from the old machine to the new, when the parallel2parallel is working ok??
Thanks :)
