Sam was capable of doing anything. He was a super-kid. He excelled in sport; he fried super-computer's circuit boards when playing them at chess, he was virtually unstoppable. Well, apart from that 14" Butcher knife.
It was driven straight into his head. He woke up hours later in hospital, not sure of where he was. He had lost everything. Everything that was Sam was taken out of him, along with the knife.
And to think, hanging the knives on the wall seemed like such a good idea at the time. They take up less space, and they're out of the reach of his younger brother.
The use of a raw plug could have saved his life.

Think about it for a moment. Everything you have could instantly go in a second. It worries me.
But yeah, everything could be taken away in the blink of an eye.... It's all in the lap of the gods.
Look at that Ali-kid in Iraq - his whole family wiped out and he's left barely alive with no arms. These things happen all the time.
Just the other day a woman was crushed to death by a lorry at a traffic light junction just up the road from where I live. One minute going shopping - the next minute dead.
> Am I supposed to feel more sorry for him because he's a 'super kid'.
Not really, its just to try and bring home the point that nobody is untouchable.
> Slipping into you're west of Scotland dialect there
Not even i speak like that. It was a fatigue typo.
A and O arent even remotely close!
> Should the knife... well not have killed him?
Not necessarily, the knife could have gane between the two hemispheres of the brain, causing less damage.
Maybe a crack on the head
