Just picked up me PS2 with ISS, SSX and Tekken Tag. The first thing I noticed is that the CD drive is a little noisy isn't it?

My console appears to be working fine, but I noticed the drive was a little noisy. Is anyone else's like this?

Ummm, I'm still reserving judgement on this one in all honesty. It hasn't impressed me thus far, I think slow-down occurs far too much. I'm gonna keep plugging away with this one though.

I'm playing Tekken Tag and ISS quite a bit at the moment.

Any other recommendations anyone? Me brother works in V.Shop so I managed to pick up Tekken Tag and SSX both for £58, so he gets a reasonable discount.

Wòókiee Møn§†€R, releax man... any console worth its salt is going to be produced to withstand a whole heap of crap from young children abusing it... if sticking the PS2 on a carpet screws it up Sony are going to have SERIOUS troubles :)

You could write it in yabasic, and always load the demo. However, that would be a waste of time.

I don't care wether the PS2 shouts "Bum holes!" when it's loading SSX!

Mind you, wouldn't it be cool if when you turned it on, it would say, "Console fully operational. Good morning Tom." And when you closed the CD drive it remaked, "Enjoy SSX"! That would be sweeeet!

I've sinced moved the PS2 to a flat-table next to my TV. Not as noisy now, the only disc that seems to be noisy is SSX. DVD's, ISS and TTT are fine.

I dunno, I think I'm paranoid or something.

CD Drive?!?!?
The only sound coming from my PS2 is a nice, healthy whurr of the coolant fans. Mine is on the carpet, but it's vertical... on a vertical stand. Will that damage it Wookie Monster?

Argh! No! You should never have a console on a surface such as a carpet! It can increase heat build up, as well as dust, and you also risk static electricity frying the machine.

I suggest you move it onto a hard, flat surface - such as a table-top - at the earliest opportunity. At the moment, you are encouraging the development of problems with your machine.

Mine's laying horizontal on my carpet next me TV. But, I've noticed on DVD's is less noticable, ditto with Tekken Tag. But on ISS and SSX it seemed to be a little noiser.

I dunno, maybe it's a case of the Soul Calibur syndrome on Dreamcast, when that came out, that game made considerable more noise than the other DC titles.

It's working fine none-the-less anyway. I was just a little concerned.

I've found that the PS2 makes a bit of noise but not that much. It sounds pretty much like my PC when i turn it on. I think its the fan cooling all the inside down. The only thing that worries me is that it makes quite a bit of noise when i lie it horizontaly. Has anybody else had this problem? Is it the PS2 or might it be a dodgy surface?
