> In the last 10 minutes or so....
Their heads were lower than thier balls at that point in the game. What do you expect after a thrasing like that? Some teams may have played for pride but Newcastle knew they were well and truly beaten losing thier title ambition with it.
*points to Shearer and Robson saying they were still in the championship race before the game*
*Points to Newcastle only having conceeded 10 goals at home this season b4 today*
Winning 14/16
Arsenal still slight favs with the bookies mind.
I aint even gonna try and predict what will happen on Wednesday night after such a rollercoaster this week.
In the last 10 minutes or so (leading up to their second), I kept an eye on the amount of passes that were off target.
Most of them were.
Especially in attack.
If the ball just needed to be laid off, or a little pass across the face of the goal - they couldn't even do that.
I expected more of them.
> Don't you mean - "What a sublime show by United?"
Nope.
It was a good show by United, I don't deny that - they played very well, and I take nothing away from them.
But it was also very much accentuated by the fact that Newcastle were pretty much useless. Their defence may as well not have turned up, for all the good they did - they were laughably poor.
ManYoo dealt comfortably with most of what Newcastle attempted to throw at them, but there were a number of occasions when Newcastle could have further reduced the deficit and United could have done nothing about it (Silvestre's mistake to let in Bellamy being the most obvious)... but Newcaslte were let down by their own ineptness.
Many of Newcastle's passes either went straight out of play, or straight to a United player. And I don't mean a United player intercepted the ball - I mean the ball was played to the feet of a United player, who did not have to move to take possession.
So yes, United played pretty well - but Newcastle really were THAT hopeless. Not so much a case of United showing how it's done; more a case of Newcastle showing why they'll never win the Premiership.
A "sublime" performance from United would have seen them hit double figures easily, I think.
Shame really.
Some quality goals scored though - including Jenas'.
"Jenas by name, genius by nature"
I laughed at that.
After Newc scored, I went onto the Fanzone commentary for the rest of the game.
Hilarious.
They were mocking the hell outta each other.
:-D
> What a complete, utter and spectacular collapse by Newcastle!
Don't you mean - "What a sublime show by United?"
- We controlled the game from the off and Newcastle just couldn't handle us.
Makes things a bit interesting now don't you think?
What a great result!
Oh well.
Makes the goal difference a little closer though, so a draw at Arsenal would be acceptable, even if they do have an easier run in.
I still reckon Rooney will have a part to play in the destination of the championship, with Utd's last game at Everton though...
Unless we have it wrapped up by then ;o)
I knew it would happen - just a shame it had to be today.
So, if we draw against Man Utd and then win our game in hand by just one goal we'll have a better goal difference by two, and it should be plain sailing from then.
SHOULD.
Damn Newcastle.
