I got a letter off my Uni this morning saying that I've been charged £15 because my direct debit didn't go in on time. My DD was set up for the 31st March, but my loan doesn't go in until 28th April. You work it out. It's almost like they did it on purpose to get this fee off everyone. I can't afford the £366 they want yet. I can't even afford the £15 they're charging me now. And to top it all, the direct debit agreement is now broken and I have to arrange a way to pay it, even though they knew the money wouldn't be there. And if I don't? Another £75 on top! I tells ya, I spend as much time filling in forms as I do actually getting an education. Harumph.

I'll go to Uni sometime.

Maybe next year.

If I can be bothered.

The loan is paid by the Student Loans compnay who send you a letter in Spetember telling you when the payments are made. The Uni have nothing to do with that, they just take the fees i.e. no conspiracy theory, just get yourself organised.

Spoilt little brat.

I can't go to uni full stop, my parents won't pay. I blame my brother, his course was 4 years, so I reckon he's put them off wanting to pay for me.

No matter, my plan is to run away and join the circus. Don't need uni for that.

I had a chat with my folks about this issue. I'm off to uni in October, so I ask them if they'll help with paying. Just a little bit, mind. It'd be unfair to ask them to pay for everything. Their answer?

"We can't pay for your entertainment money. Everything else is sorted."

So I have tutition fees, food, accomodation and books paid for.

It's good being me.

Tut, don't swear.

Still, I agree with the comment, the cost of a university education is stupid, especially when the government seem to be obsessed with getting as many people to go as possible.

Another thing you don't get told before you're thrown into the deep-end of higher education/stupid amounts of money for your age is that the debt is acummulative. Which means that the interest is piled on your first installment, then more when your first and second are added together, then more when your third is added, etc...

It basically sucks. People like me can't realistically afford to get a decent education without getting into crazy amounts of debt. And they want to increase the loan amount. The ****est Uppest.

Or at least get someone else to pay for it.
