Tomorrow (Saturday) I go into competition.

Writing against the clock. I get sent a topic and word count, and then have 36 hours to provide a story, the best receiving a prize of £50, and two runners up prizes of £25.

I'm looking forward to it, but really, it's fallen during a difficult weekend. My wife is working in the morning, and in the evening on Saturday, so I'll only have the middle of the day to do it, during which time Man Utd play Newcastle, a match I didn't really want to miss.

On Monday it's my brothers birthday, and I have to get him a present at some point, so this will put a dent in Sunday, and I'll have to give the FA Cup semi's a miss too.

I'll probably end up having to work through Saturday night to get it right.

Once the competition is over, I might just post it here for you to read. Perhaps I'll put it online during the day, and ask for suggestions!

Can't wait for the topic now though, and to get started. Just twenty two hours and twenty five minutes...

I'd write about a mirror with arms and legs that goes around reflecting the sun into peoples eyes.

I'd probably end up writing something rather dark about someone seeing a multitude of different reflections depending how they feel, and never seeing their true reflection, while someone else does and something or somehow.

I've just finished a first draft of a story.

Currently wieghing in at 1090 words, it gives me space to add something in to expand upon a theme, as long as I also take out some of the bits I don't like.

It's again the rear-view mirror of a car that is the focus, but it's what's really behind this driver that is the focus of the story, a man beeping his horn, and flashing his lights. Did she cut him up? Does he want to kill her? She's new to this driving lark, and scared.

I'm taking a break, and will give it a first redraft later.

So far so good.....

Thanks Meka, you too.

I've currently got three ideas running around in my head, I might have to write them all and see which is the best.

One of my ideas revolves around the "mirror never lies" principle - but don't worry it's nothing like yours.

Good luck Meka.

Mirrors, that would be quite an interesting subject. So much to write about. Mirror images; isn't it funny how when you raise your left hand the image in the mirror raises it's right hand? Mirror universe; Trekkies would love that one, Mirrors giving seven years bad luck, all because someone once thought they contained your soul.

So much.

Noooooooooooo!

The theme is:

Mirror

I wrote a story called 'the mirror cannot lie' only the other day.

But the word limit for this contest is only 1200 words. My story was the best part of 1000 words too long.

I've got to come up with something new now, without getting my old story stuck in my head!

Oh well, best think something up.

Good luck Blank.
