As the fan films made clear, Jar Jar as a character isn't the issue, it's the voice. Give him a different voice and he actually turns out to be fairly likable.
And, yes, little Ani is annoying to the extreme, not helped by a poor script.
My script would be:
Introduce 2 Jedi as in the film, but not through trade nonsense, have them embroiled in an arguement about kidnapping or something.
Introduce Anakin with the same story but don't make him as smart or give him much to say until he's a teen.
Skip over any political stuff and just have:
Jedi meet Anakin, help him get out of the contract
Go to help Padmé Amidala, keep the battle with the droids.
Make the droids a bit more serious
Grab the queen
Meet the jedi council, they dismiss Anakin, but the 2 jedi decide to train him.
Up the pace in the final battle.
Then make the second film a big battle with a bit more of what made the animated series so good. and add Darth Maul again.
The third film is pretty good aside from the overly political bits and the over complicated clone Fett thing. Add Darth Maul. Lose the love stuff and just elude to it unless you can find better writers.

Have you just called Darth Vader an annoying kid? :P
I hated Phantom Menace, thought it was useless. That galactic trade nonsense, Jar Jar & that annoying kid......
Darth Maul was the only good thing in that film and he was criminally underused IMO.
Oh, the film was still terrible, but seeing the final fight and pod racing in 3D, with a nice clear digital picture, was worth it. I also couldn't help but smile just as soon as the main theme hit at the start, I tried not to, but my fanboydem wouldn't let me get away with it.
Love Film is great - I have my xbox and tv with me and my parents receive the discs, so I'm able to stream and if any titles come through to the house that I'd like to see, they'd forward them on to me. the best of both worlds!
I went to The Phantom Menace in 3D last night.
I enjoyed it.
Don't hate me.
Don't hate you Butch but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't at least slightly disappointed by that comment :P

Watched Hot Rod again on Film 4 last night, I love that film but I'm not really sure why? Must watch it sober at some point and then most probably pop back on here to delete this comment.
I guess even if my Vue did have a card for unlimited viewing I still wouldn't have the time to make it worthwhile.
My home setup is good enough to watch things comfortably at home and for the price of a ticket or two I can get a film to watch over and over or watch it then trade in (or rent). Then there's always the option of Lovefilm at £5 a month to stream films. It's just a case of waiting until the film is available.
Right. Must go get breakfast, I've been answering too many emails this morning already.
It is for this reason I went to The Phantom Menace in 3D last night.
I enjoyed it.
Don't hate me.
Might be worth looking into.
How are they ridiculous?
If you mean prices, it's all about finding the best deals. My friend has one of those monthly cinema cards so on Wednesdays I get to go for free with orange wednesday. It's awesome
£10 to sit in a cinema with fools when you can buy it and watch in comfort at home. £8 would be acceptable.
Orange sucks, not even free cinema tickets could convince me to stay with them.
