2 of my colleagues had solar panels fitted last year, both of them reckoned that they really needed to be fitted before the government lowered the payment levels (think that was at the start of this year) in order for them to be a worthwhile investment. Apparently owners of any panels fitted after this date do still get paid for any energy produced but it is now at a much lower rate (think it's actually about half).

All depends on how much sun you get on the roof. We're in a sun trap, so the folks will probably be getting solar panels soon.

solar...Had someone round from PV Solar UK today. Why are they always surprised when I don't sign on the spot?

Anyway, got a day to think about whether to get Solar panels from them, so if anyone knows anything about how good they are then that would be a help.

"sign on the spot" + "1 day to decide" + "freeelectricity4u" = scary!

Any company that try to hard sell is an instant turn off to me.
The domain name also doesn't fill me with confidence.

I would ignore the "1 day" ultimatum and shop around and get a few quotes - there's no rush. Often companies that use these sales techniques come back with an *even better* offer in a week or two if you don't bite!

The original FIT (feed in tariff) situation has all changed as I'm sure you are aware so you need to do plenty of research.

You haven't said what you are looking for - are you buying panels or just 'renting your roof'?

I see you also follow Robert Llewellyn on Twitter, have you been reading his solar updates? I think he paid £10k to British Gas for his panels.

Congrats HM :-)

I'd suggest getting one these badboys; one of my presents :')

Bringing attention this post again, reminds me that my best friend has the Sith bathrobe. Very impressive.

Actually found a black pile of cloth in my room and noticed it was a reapers outfit I bought a few years back for Halloween. Contemplating bringing it back to scare my housemates with...

Ah, ironically very similar to the first advert.

I think the biggest difference is that the latest one is slightly longer.

I love the way some people try to justify their expensive new phone by trying to trash other phones. It's exactly the same as the console wars.

Of course, when one side shouts the other tries to shout louder.

I thought it was kinda new, but wasn't sure due to me being completely out f touch of latest technology (he says typing from an iPad...).

Last day at home today, just sorting out the packing. I'm a typical guy leaving it to the last minutes. I'm just going by the fact that I have been in 6 different bedrooms to stay since June, so I know most of the stuff I need can be fitted into a rucksack and clothes bag. Still, seems like a lot of effort right now...
