How does it compare to the original and in my opinion inferior Bioshock 2?

Very different.

Bioshock 2 was, and always will be in my opinion, a glorified "add on" for Bioshock. I still liked it (playing as a Big Daddy really is cool, c'mon!...), but Infinite....

Infinite is a game in its own right. It's original, it's fast paced, it's a helluva lot of fun, and it really is the prettiest thing on a PC screen. Where the original Bioshock was dark, depressing and dangerous from the word "go", Infinite screams at you that Columbia is a wonderful place to be, pretty, peaceful and (oddly for a floating city) stable. The tension is much more underhand, the evil much less in your face, but the story is as gritty and hard edged as ever.

Don't want to give too much away, but there are a number of scenes that ought to make any morally grounded person cringe a little...

Bioshock2 was just that Alfonse ... 2nd to a far superior Bioshock.

Anyone played the new Bioshock yet?

Playing it now, and quite honestly in my opinion, the hype does not do it justice!

I have everything switched up to ultra settings, and it looks glorious, it plays like a dream and is pretty much flawless. Combat's about as flexible and original as it's ever going to get, story progression is natural (i.e. no stopping the action to "talk" to people and find out what's going on, it happens automatically at genuine lulls in the action) and there's loads of hidden extras.

I just read Hannard's review of it, and couldn't agree less in terms of replayability. I'll most certainly be going through it several times, trying the different options and gear.

I'm sure a few people over in the gaming section mentioned it.

It's not on my list of urgent things to play, though. I'll get it later when it goes down in price.

Looking forward to Defiance, though.

And in other, non gaming, news...

There was a slight flurry of snow last night about 10pm before it realised where it was and retreated. No sign of it this morning, the ground was even pretty dry.

The car said 1.5c this morning, though, so pretty bracing, but might even be dry and bright for Easter weekend and the bank holiday Monday, which is good as we're planning to go to Bicton.

Fibre if you're British, fiber if you're American.

Not a lot to report on the weather front ... two huge flurries whilest walking granddaughter this morning and one early this afternoon but maybe the 'icy spots' is correct for this evening ... an extremely clear sky and a 'cutting' wind ...

Fibre as far as I'm aware.

Apparently it's better for your diet...
