Age and experience should give a yearly reduction
Interesting you say that as I find my insurance goes up each year and I swap to a different insurer each year. The lazy part of me would prefer not to but those are the cards I'm dealt. I see no reason for a £9 a month rise.
I stand corrected.
... and I've just updated the '5 Words at a Time' thread ... ;¬)
I think the car does come into it, but mostly for 'emissions', which often means cheaper cars cost more if they're older.
Hi pb ... totally late today!
Called at 5.50am this morning by a paramedic taking my father's partner into hospital and that father was left in bed unawares! I've finally arrived home after arranging urgent residential care between two counties!! He's now in a home ....
Emissions are 'car tax' defining these days and as such have no influence on car insurance. However, older cars have higher emissions anyway, but as they are older anyway their value drops ... street-wise for selling and insurance wise for getting a settlement. The emissions have nothing to do with insurance brokers etc.
For example, my car's emissions are 'fixed' and I pay tax accordingly. A more recent model, having far lower emissions, costs more because it is a newer vehicle and therefore more costly to insure in the case of a settlement ... no emission factor there.
Morning,
car insurance renewal came through today, a mere £100 increase for the year, no thanks. Having gone through the comparison website, one of the quotes is almost £2000. Really? The car isn't worth much more than that. More than 10 times the price of the cheapest quote.
Evening dave ...
These days 'the car' doesn't seem to figure in the quote ... it's the driver!
Age and experience should give a yearly reduction ... mine has always reduced yearly and on renewal I've always reviewed the 'annual mileage' and anything else on the renewal quote that could be reduced ... I'm no expert, but I pay around £250 a year for protected fully comp insurance.
Just passing, as problems again with father!!!!.
Our local 'street fair' was granted by Henry III and this is it ...
I so remember this and how we all wore the same drab clothes
Simpkin & James were the real deal grocers ... rather like Harrods of the day :¬)
6 minutes until lunch time now.

Morning.
The wind here is really pushing those trees around. Not a good day to be out and about so...I'm not.
Weather hasn't been a problem here pb. My father has ... again ... but that 's for later.
Our annual street fair arrived Tuesday and was officially opened yesterday at 12 noon. The Royal Charter will now allow it to run until Saturday midnight.
Traffic congestion ... as usual ;¬)
