Well I love marmite and now I love Garth Marenghi's Darkplace. It's a great show. Now that I think about it Garth reminds me a lot of Garin.
lol, think i will need to write a few more reviews and add a couple more cheats to get Freeola to pay for a house out of my winnings. Could try, but would be about 50 by the time i had the deposit in sight.
Well i will have a look about and when i find places i will start to act a bit more on it - but its good to be active in the makret for a first time buyer now, before prices get higher again.

Emmie, now seems to be a very good time to start looking to buy. We have just bought a house after being out of the market for 3 years. My bargain hunting background did me well on this account!.
I thought the ridiculous prices houses were going for in my area could not continue and persuaded my wife to put our house on the market as we really wanted to move to a nearby (but sought after and expensive) village.
After speaking to an estate agent (who is a good friend of mine who I have known since we were kids) I was advised was to put it on the market a few grand less than similar properties and if we found a buyer that could move fast,we should get out and into rented. We did just that and after one we were buying around 18 months ago fell through, we decided to sit tight and watch the market.
In June this year we found a much nicer house than we ever thought we would be able to afford, in very good condition and paid around £30K less for it than similar houses in that area had previously sold for. The fact we were not in a chain gave us massive bargaining power as the seller wanted a quick hassle free sale. Add to this the fact the house we sold is now worth probably £20 - £25k less than we sold it for in 2006, I think we ended up in a very good position.
It was hassle and at times it was very stressful but in the end we ended up with a nicer house than we thought we could ever afford and a smaller mortgage than we feared we would end up with. Once you have your mortgage offer in place you will be in a very strong position.
Money saving expert forum is excellent for advice of this kind. I set up my mortgage up myself as brokers can charge up to around 2% of the loan value!. It was dead easy,did it on the house that fell through as well. Seriously recommend looking at a repayment mortgage though, we learned that lesson the hard way after listening to some slimeball in a suit a few years ago. Or you could just cash in all your GAD wins and buy it cash ! :D

Cool thanks - i did read about that. I would be paying for it all by myself with my gf staying a lot of the time, not sure if i could get away with that or if it is worth gambling £20 on lol.
I am trying to work n worst case options, so if i allow £500 at most and it costs £450 then happy days, but i am still in the process of finding places, some ok places, but nothing that grabs my attention yet.

I've rented a few places, including a 2 bed house, and you're not far of as far as I can tell. I might allow a bit more for Elec/Water (if there's 2 of you living there) but it shouldn't be far off that.
Note: If you're going to be living on your own, you should be able to get a discount on your Council Tax, nothing major but about £20 or so which helps. This applies to renting, so I'm guessing it applies to homeowners?

quick question for those of you who are home owners or renting, i am looking to purchase a 2 bed house soon, and i am trying to figure out what i would spend a month on various bits, this is my list could anyone offer advice or if i am way under;
TV - £12
Council Tax - £120
Food - £120
Electric - £35
Water - £35
Insurance - £15
Internet - £30

Nice and wet out there this morning, lovely for a bus ride in to work. Still, here now and today I have some breakfast with me, which means it's better than yesterday's situation already!
Sold my old PDA yesterday for £70. Now need to find a decent phone that does internet on a big enough screen and 3G for not much more than that.

Morning everyone, another cold start, waking up at 7:00 is even worse when it is not fully light and cold outside, and I have had a cold or flu like thing for about 3 weeks (well i think it is 2 seperate illness that i happened to catch close to each other!)
So might be an early day for me, we will see. But football is on tonight and might cheer me up a bit lol.
