Good morning all.
Wednesday - nearly halfway through the week.
The City supporters I was giving stick to last week are very quick in return it - luckily Rovers are used to the banter and I've worked out the comebacks already.
5-0 away is still a shocking defeat, but at least we weren't at home, to a sell out crowd, losing 6-0 to our rivals... I'm not too fussed to be honest. The club is making really bizarre decisions. Obviously it is sensible for a club with only 3 strikers to loan off one of their main strikers to a club before securing one to take his place. Ooops, sniped at the last minute Rovers, now we have 2 strikers. Lets hope they score more goals than they are at the moment. No pressure lads - at least you can't be dropped...

Ouch. Sounds like it would be a headache to get anything fixed.

I clicked this link at work and IE6 took half hour to load the page. Yup, massice job to upgrade the computers - think of all those hours lost upgrading each profile and machine. On a positive note, our IT decided to remove all software from our main image PC today without notifying us. They then said they would rebuild it when we reach the top of the waiting list for an engineer to look at it. What??? It was in a working condition - couldn't they leave it that way until we reached the top of the waiting list? Joke!
It's only £150 a year per PC for their support and if it weren't for the fact we would need it for network support, it would be cheaper to buy a brand new top spec machine every other year and maintain the darn things ourselves!

To be honest,. it's really only for compatibility with some of our web based tools. They've tried it on other systems but it's not reliable enough (basically the tools are old).
So therefore they don't really mind us using other browers but there's still a strict rule about installing things (as a company, so they can cover their back and also in case anything interferes with programs and systems in place). Also, if given free reign you could bet that someone will end up downloading something with spyware or viruses in it.

That's strange - what company do you work for? (don't answer if it's a secret!)
Have you asked your IT dept. why?
They can't be that 'on the ball' if they make you use IE6 but then allow USB access!

Oh maybe the BBC are doing this to try and encourage its own users without having to say it themselves. I'm sure their developers are fed up with IE6. It must be costing them something to continue to support it.

Probably because many people who read BBC News will work in offices/organisations who are likely to be 'affected' by updating browsers. No doubt this includes several people working in BBC offices.
