Cheers Dragonlance. I have to say, seems pretty weird to suggest a paperclip as a method of fixing a console, especially showing diagrams on how to undo the paperclip :P

According to MS (all kneel) the 'ultimate solution' is to request a 'repair' solution:¬(
However, they do suggest an alternative solution using a paper clip!!!!...:¬)) Now that's technology for you...

Chris - I don't have trouble opening the disc drive however it does tell me to insert a disc and flat out refuses to read them. Need to switch it on and off for a while before it gets going. If it does completely go I won't be that fussed, had it for around 2 years now and I'm just looking for an excuse to swap it for the new model.

Speaking of 360's, anybody else have a similar problem to mine? Quite simply, the disc drive refuses to open sometimes. I'll press the open button, and the green lights will just flash, have to keep pressing it until it eventually opens. Extremely worried that one of these days it's going to RROD. Again.

Yes, I saw the ending, my wife was having a marathon catching up session after the holiday. But the show just tends to annoy me (mostly due to bad acting or reusing the same plot over and over). That story was probably one of the better ones though.

I know nobody besides me watches it, but the ending to the Christian, Sayid saga in Eastenders was exquisite.
The fan is pretty much whisper quiet, yes. My old one used to make a racket even when dowloading games while off, this one is silent while doing that and almost the same when on. But the disc drive still makes a noise anyway.
I've just moved my licences over too, you need to log on to the Microsoft licence thing on Xbox.com to do it and if you're logged in to that it will automatically transfer them.
Then just backed up all my games, saves and profiles on a USB stick or two and popped them in the new machine. Took about 20 minutes all in.

Is this the new slim 360? If so, can you get back with how much quieter the new one is compared to the original? Reviews have said it is whisper quiet in comparison, but they said that about my PC fan and I think it makes a racket.
