Amen...

@pb
It's not on eBay (they don't do s/w) you need to follow the link I gave and use Twitter! I did get it started, is around £200 now :¬)

Re. RRP - Remember it's for Children in Need :¬P

Understood Nin ;)

It was silly having the posts spread throughout 2 threads. That's the only reason they were removed from here. Not because they didn't belong.

It really is not important tbh. The posts are together, that makes sense.

As McLong says - that's the whole point of a 'proper' graphics package! :¬)

If the £50 packages did everything there wouldn't be much of a market for the grown-up ones.

FYI
Rory Cellan-Jones from the BBC is auctioning a copy of Photoshop today: 'Photoshop for Children in need' no one has made a bid yet according to his Twitter stream!

EDIT: There's 1 bid now - I've offered £50 to get the ball rolling![/i]

Oh, can't see the Photoshop one on ebay, or has it gone already? Damn. Mind you, everything seems to be going for the RRP or higher on that charity account anyway.

It's not that the other pieces of software can't handle text layers btw, it's that they can't import Photoshop ones properly. If you set a good template up from scratch there's no problem with using Gimp2 or Photo Plus x4 for website design.

I would certainly say taking the posts out of the film thread was justified but this thread serves no specific reason other than to talk about the random things that pop up, that is it's original purpose and it's why we've kept it going for what will be it's 10th birthday on Thursday.

Because you spread a random topic across 2 different threads. I had to move the posts from the other thread into a new one so it just made sense to combine the spread out posts.

And "for once"..... I would say the thread serves it's purpose daily tbh.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr is all I can say.

I'm bemused as to why you felt you needed to. For once this thread served the exact purpose that it used to be for.

It doesn't surprise me to hear that Photoshop Elements isn't able to handle simple text layers. While it's a really good program for photo editing and creating simple effects (especially for the price), it's just not usable as web/graphic design software as far as I'm concerned.

Apart from Elements, I've used no other design program then Photoshop for the past 12 years, so I wouldn't really know if any other 'free' software can open PSD files I'm afraid.

I can't answer regarding the Elements question I'm afraid, the one PC here with Elements on it is temporarily monitor-less, but are you simply wanting to know what font/size the text is? If so I can probably work it out if you link the item in question so I can take a look (if it's not a private document).

Alternatively, check out WhatTheFont. A truly awesome website that can usually detect a particular font in use from an uploaded image or URL. As long as the font is fairly large/clear, it usually gets the answer right.

Interesting site that. Don't think it quite picked up the right font though. I'm getting the originator of the template to look tonight. Just annoying that nothing bar Photoshop can upload a template with a text layer that stays as editable text.

I didn't realise that Freesat didn't get all of the Freeview channels!

Dave for example. That's not good

Robert Llewellyn *spoke* to me! :¬P

[s]Hmmm...[/s][/i]

Yeah, they're slowly getting there. But then with weak Freeview signal in my area and Freesat doing BBC 1 HD, BBC HD and ITV HD for free and a good upscaling for SD channels it's still worth having, plus I don't have to pay Sky for anything!
