They may be variations on consoles, but they are still being released and sold seperately. Most of them are still available to buy, despite the fact they all perform a similar function. Just seems stupid to me to add a feature, change the name slightly, and re-sell it. Actually, it's a brilliant idea in terms of business, but I can't understand the people who will buy each one.

Most of those consoles are variations on what already existed, there are only 4 different consoles as such.

Looks like we'll agree to disagree then? I'm not buying one it'll just end up tucked away in a cupboard under an inch and a half of dust.

Have to agree with pete there.

One other thing I'd like to point out...

1989 Gameboy

1998 Game boy colour

2001 Game boy Advance

2003 Game boy Advance SP

2004 Nintendo DS

2005 Game boy Micro

2006 Nintendo DS Lite

2008 Nintendo DSi

2009-2010 Nintendo DSi XL

2011 Nintendo 3DS

Releases are becoming way too frequent for my liking. Nearly a console every year...

A handheld with almost Wii power and a brand new online system that should support a far easier multiplayer experience and a decent download store? I think that's worth £175.

I agree and if it had better games at launch I'd have bought one by now. I've hovered over the Buy option but there is nothing I really want to play on it yet.

Apparently the £175 Tesco 3DS deal is only valid when you buy it with a game. They haven't stated what price the games will be so the deal may possibly not be as great as it first appears? Agreed it seems a good deal when compared to the list price but even so the 3DS still seems very expensive for what it is to me.

Used a different broadband speed checker than I usually use earlier on and when the test completed it informed me that I should get around a 40% increase on my currently available maximum connection speed by moving to UK Online. Not sure how they can promise this seeing as they are no longer in business? Think it's reasonably fair to assume that I can take the findings of that test with a pinch of salt.

I'll be in Tesco on the way home from work tonight, a few hours too early for the 3DS offer but I wonder if there will be any eager customers queuing.

Morning.

Youngest is running a temperature and has a bad cough but is insisting on still going to school.

I'm at home because I'm not sure whether she needs to stay at home or not, so I feel like I'm in a state of limbo at the moment. Not feeling too great myself, either.

Booked plane ticket for my wife next Tuesday as well. 2 weeks of looking after the kids myself and trying to work too. Yikes!
