As I approach 18 i've started to wonder wheather or not I should wander out into the big wide world and live my own life without anyone watching over me. Wandering out into the big wide world is a big step for anyone but my case is slightly different, let me explain.

What I would like to do is once I turn 18 is to leave home and start a life in another country (most likely the states) some may call me brave and others may call me stupid but to tell the truth i'm probably a bit of both. Why do I want do do this? Well I don't really know, I just do maybe it's because i'm tired of being treated like a kid and having to be tethered up with a leash, or maybe it's because I just want a fresh start, away from foes and away from the constant moaning and groaning of my parents.

You may think i'm being a bit selfish, maybe I am, who cares we're all entitled to be selfish once in a while. You may also ask why would I want to leave the conforts of home? the most likely answer is We can't stay with our parents all the time and we have to leave home at some stage.
Another question you might ask, why leave the country? well I'm not to sure i'd be able to answer that but it's just something I want to do.

As I sit pondering what I should do I think about what I would be leaving behind and what I will be greeted by. It's a big place out there not to mention a dangerous one, but we allshould take a walk on the wild side at some time or another right?

Whatever my choice one thing is for certain, it's my choice and nothing will change that.
For anyone else thinking along the same lines here's my advice, think long and hard, it may change your life for better or for worse but do what you think is best and do what YOU want to do, just like we all should

What I can't understand is that I've got myself on the property ladder about 2 years ago, buying a 1 bedroom maisonette for £75,000 which is now worth about £100,000. But the chances of me being able to afford £200,000 for a house is highly unlikely...and if i save my cash like a madman then it just ends up getting taxed...I can't win!

I wouldn't like to go out on my own. When your un-employed and single, its toughher than you think and very lonely if you dont find a job and have no bird.

I'm in Cambridge, looks like I will be 40 before I can afford to move out.

Yeah you have to have enough "points" to get in.

If you're single you get points, have a degree, have someone sponsoring you etc. That kind of thing.

A lot of thoses would be the same weather or not you moved out.

I find its more like:

> Rent/Mortgage - £300 per month
> Household insurance - £16 per month

> Repairs on appliances/plumbing
> Decorating - paint/carpet etc

for the stuff that would actually be different.

The best bet is to move in with a partner of a friend, that way you spread costs.

Mr Lover Man said what I was going to say (but better then I would have), I still live at home, I will be 19 next Monday and am about to start my career in the police force. I will go from earning nothing (I’m a volunteer gardener with the national trust) to earning near £20,000 a year, I will live at home for a while until I have a fair amount in the bank, if you are going to move out you need more then plans, you need cash too, especially with property prices the way they are at the moment.

You know that you can't just emigrate to another country easily don't you?

You have to have something to offer them in order for them to allow you to live and work there.

Usually they want you to have a job offer or something similar already.

Of course you could always get married to an amerisan, then they woud have to let you in.
