You know the worst thing about the whole overthrowing of the Iraqi regime? Sure, it's great for the Iraqi people and all that, but what narked me was when they knocked the statue of Saddam down, it didn't go down straight away, it just kind of went horizontal for a bit. It took about 5 minutes to knock it down and some bloke kept jumping up and trying to hit it in the face with his shoe but kept missing. Rubbish.

We'll be watching that clip for the rest of our lives, with that statue just falling 90 degrees while matey throws his shoe at it, and misses. Bah.

I thought the statue was really just Saddam at first. I thought he just painted himself black and stood on top of a pillar. I kept waiting for him to jump down and run off.

That statue coming down didn't exactly have the same dramatic effect that the Berlin wall coming down did. I mean, the wall had Timmy Mallet!

Using his shoe is the worst possible insult in the country anyway. Showing your feet to someone is, i think, strongly against religion and deemed as a huge insult. So therefore them beating it up with their shoes was a huge sign of all their hatred towards him.

However, are they only doing that because they fear the american forces and that if they don't show support they fear getting killed, or are they truly happy?

I think the latter because they have now regained their freedom, now they can shout out anything they like and lets hope Iraq now gets a nice government and are able to rebuild their lives and prosper as a new found and great Middle East Country.

There is no way in hell that saddam will go bin laden. Saddam is a greedy power mad tyrant, living in caves is not his style.

Yeah, I can see myself in 50 years time getting asked by the grandkids, "Can you help with my history homework Gran?"

"Sure", says I, "what's it about?"

"When Baghdad was liberated on April 9, 2003 Gran"

"Oh, you mean when the play-doh statue with bog roles for support was pulled down? That was a funny sight love, the man with the shoe made a great sideshow too!"

"Gee Gran, was it really that funny?"

"Well, no love, but the Fimbles were on the other side and the fact that you can see the zippers in their costumes always had me in convulsions, so it was probably residual hilarity love."

"Ok Gran, thanks"

Emm, I think maybe I should get some sleep!

Saddam will probably escape (if he hasn't done so already), and as they suggested on BBC News 24, I think it was, start an underground network of caves using his fortune, just like Bin Laden did.

Think of the possiblities. Having a spot of tea down underneath a mountain with a fellow group of Western World-haters (Al Qaeda), planning various terrorist attacks, while Americans scurry about the mountains above you, blowing up large rocks and hillsides that they think will lead into your 'lair'.

They'd better catch him soon.
